2013 Reds / Game Thread

Game Thread: Reds at Dodgers (2013.07.26)

The Reds will have their work cut out for them tonight as they face off against Clayton Kershaw.  Kershaw’s 9-6 record would suggest he hasn’t been doing that well this season, but his 2.01 ERA suggests something completely different.  The Reds have had some success against him of late however.  Since 2010, the Reds are 1-1 versus Clayton, putting up 12 runs in 5 starts.  Brandon Phillips has 7 hits in 16 at-bats versus Kershaw so perhaps Kershaw’s ERA is about to rise after tonight!

Homer Bailey will need to be on the top of his game however if the Reds want to hand the Dodgers back to back losses and for the Reds to clinch their 5th win on this road trip and inch one step closer to a winning West Coast trip.  I think the good guys are up for it.  GOOOOOO REDS!

  1. Figured it would be a 1-0, 2-1 type game. The boys came up just a little short. Get ‘em tomorrow.

  2. The bad news is the Reds lost, the really good news is that both teams ahead of the Reds also lost. We’ll get em tomorrow for sure. Gotta tip my cap to Corky making a great “effort” play at the plate. Still, I’d rather see Hanny or Mes behind the plate whenever possible. We didn’t lose ground so at least there is that. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  3. So if I am a closer facing the 3,4,5 hitters of the Reds trying to protect a 1 run lead, all I have to do is throw 94-95 mph pitches w/ no movement right down the middle and they go quietly? Disturbing …

  4. Eighth inning, one out and one to tie, and Robinson is left on second. That’s the game. It’s not good to be looking up at two teams and lose a chance to gain a game. Plus no Reds trade activity with two months to go.
