Minor League Player of the Day: Louisville CF Billy Hamilton: He went 2 for 4 with a HR and a 2B.

AAA

Louisville 3 – Toledo 2

Billy Hamilton went 2 for 4 with a HR and a 2B. Hamilton’s two run inside the park HR in the 8th put the Bat’s ahead to say at 3-2. Kristopher Negron went 2 for 4 with a 2B.

Armando Galarraga got the win as he went 7.2 IP and allowed 2 R, 1 ER, on 5 H and 3 BB with 5 K. Curtis Partch picked up his 2nd save with 1 IP of scoreless relief.

AA

Montgomery 9 – Pensacola 7

David Vidal went 2 for 3 with a BB. Devin Lohman went 2 for 5 with a SB. Travis Mattair and Ryan LaMarre each walked 2 times. Joe Mather doubled.

Ryan Dennick got the loss as he went 7.1 IP and allowed 9 R, 8 ER, on 10 H and 2 BB with 3 K. Josh Ravin added 0.2 IP of scoreless relief.

High A

Bakersfield 5 – High Desert 4

Juan Duran and Steve Selsky each went 2 for 4 with a 2B. Marquez Smith went 2 for 3 with a BB and a SB. Juan Perez went 1 for 2 with a 2B and 2 BB. Yorman Rodriguez doubled.

Shane Dyer got no decision as he went 6 IP and allowed 4 R, 2 ER, on 8 H and 0 BB with 6 K. Pat Doyle got the win with 2 IP of scoreless relief. Jamie Walczak picked up his 1st save with 1 IP of scoreless relief.

Low A

Lake County 6 – Dayton 5

Joe Terry and Beau Amaral each went 2 for 5 with a 2B. Jeff Gelalich went 2 for 4 with a 2B. Jesse Winker clubbed his 8th HR.

In his first start at single A Dayton, Nick Travieso got the loss as he went 4 IP and allowed 4 R on 6 H and 1 BB with 3 K. Ben Klimesh added 1 IP of scoreless relief.

  1. The questions about Winker’s power seem to be wrong so far. If he has 20 HR power he could be really, really good. He might be better than Alonso was as a hitting prospect.

    How has fielding been?

    • @Jason1972: I asked a Dragon season ticket holder friend of mine to scout Winker’s defense. He says he’s got plus speed, average routes, plus arm, he holds his own and looks the part.

      He says, however, watch out for Jeff Gelalich. He says he thinks Gelalich is the best outfielder he’s seen come through in 15+ years of going to almost every game… yes, that even includes Drew Stubbs. That got my attention.

      I’d like to know Bill’s opinion of Gelalich.

  2. I’m very excited about him. He takes his fair share of walks as well. Would love to see him shipped out to Bakersfield soon.
