  1. Ryan Hanigan went 1 for 2 with a BB.

Man, that is a pleasant sight. Careful as you go though Hani. The Reds need you back completely healthy, or at least as healthy as a catcher can be during the season. But someone made a mistake in the boxscore. Hanigan is listed as hitting 6th. That can’t be right.

    • @Shchi Cossack: Was it planned that he only get 3 plate appearances? Looks like he was taken out on a double switch. I know sometimes these things are planned in advance for rehabbing players, but I don’t remember reading that yesterday.

      • @Greg Dafler: I think a shortened appearance in his 1st rehab game is a fairly common practice, especially in dealing with the injuries like Hanigan has experienced. I’m equally concenred about a full recovery from both injuries. Repeatedly sending him out with either of those injuries was irresponsible, jeopardizing both Hanigan’s success and the team’s success. Like you, I didn’t see any information regarding the ‘plan’, but rarely do we, as fans, ever see such information from the Reds.

  2. Loek Van Mil is doing his AA thing, which is to say he’s been good at the AA level. Maybe when he’s promoted he can perform at AAA this time.

    • @TC: His full name is Ludovicus Jacobus Maria Van Mil. How cool is that :-). When he’s a closer he’ll have to be known as “Viscious” Ludovicus Van Mil.

  3. Am I seeing something? Or, does the minor league offense look poor this season compared to last season? As well as, does the minor league pitching look good compared to last season?

    • @steveschoen: I think what you are seeing is the advancement aspect of the minor league system. I don’t think the pitching or hitting has generally made the necessary adjustment at the next level yet.

  4. I see in the box score that Hanigan had a throwing error. Anybody know anything more about that? Also, Arredondo had 4 walks and a WP. Yikes.

  5. Hamilton so far this year is batting .190/.254/.267. I have serious concerns about him being ready next year.

    • @HOF-13: Still a short season. Was more than likely never going to be ready this season, nothing more than a pinch hitter/runner. But, next year, still a long ways away. And, many players are slumping this season.
