Louisville 3 – Gwinnett 2

Henry Rodriguez went 3 for 4. Felix Perez went 2 for 3 with a 2B and a BB. Jason Donald went 2 for 4. Mike Hessman doubled.

Pedro Villarreal got no decision as he went 6 IP and allowed 1 R on 6 H and 0 BB with 4 K. Jose Diaz got the win with 2 IP of scoreless relief.

AA

Jackson 2 – Pensacola 1 (13 Innings)

Ryan LaMarre went 2 for 6 with a HR. Theo Bowe doubled.

Tim Crabbe got no decision as he went 7 IP and allowed 1 R on 6 H and 0 BB with 3 K. Shaun Ellis (1 IP), Lee Hyde (2 IP), and Drew Hayes (2 IP) each added scoreless relief outings. Josh Ravin recorded two outs before allowing the winning run in the 13th.

High A

High Desert 6 – Bakersfield 1

Mike Gilmartin homered for the Blaze’s only run. Juan Silva doubled as the Blaze managed only three hits in the game.

James Allen took the loss as he went 5 IP and allowed 4 R, 2 ER, on 7 H and 1 BB with 1 K.

Low A

Dayton 4 – Lansing 3

Brent Peterson went 1 for 3 with a 2B and a BB. Robert Ramirez homered. Zach Vincej tripled. Tanner Rahier and Junior Arias each doubled.

Pedro Diaz got no decision as he went 5 IP and allowed 3 R, 2 ER, on 5 H and 2 BB with 3 K. Jesus Adames recorded the win as he added 2.2 IP of scoreless relief. Sean Lucas notched his 2nd save with 1.1 IP of scoreless relief.

  1. Breakout year for Villarreal? All 4 starts have been quality starts. He is on the 40-man roster, and while I doubt we see him in the major league rotation, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in the Reds bullpen at some point later this year (though maybe not until September.)

  2. I hope Villarreal have put the pieces together. He has great, great stuff.

    Tough loss for James Allen.

    Arias might need to sell his house in Dayton soon.
