2013 Reds / Game Thread

Game Thread: Phillies at Reds (2013.04.17)

The Reds will enter tonight’s regularly scheduled contest with either a 2-game winning streak to keep intact or a 1-game losing streak to try and snap.  The Reds and Phillies will resume last night’s scoreless affair at 5:30 with Zach Cozart at the plate and Joey Votto waiting in the on-deck circle.  After Votto hits the game winning hit, fans will then have to wait until the regularly scheduled time to watch the conclusion of the series.

How ironic will it be if the first game goes to extra innings and we see Aroldis Chapman “start” the 10th inning?  The irony is that Mike Leake will start the series finale.

It is raining buckets outside right now where I am.  Hopefully everyone is dry in the Queen City.  As the saying goes… It is a good day to play 2!  Go Reds!

    • Hanigan has one more hit than Mesoraco has doubles…I’m gonna fight someone.

You’re pretty jacked up today, this is the second time you’ve called someone out!

  1. “Batting average is not always indicative of how your at bats go” – Brantley

You really don’t hear Reds announcers say stuff like this often.

  2. Hey, Stephanie said she was going to the game tonight and was going to bring TF good luck. Well, she wasn’t lying. Need to get that lady season tickets.

Mes is starting to make a believer of this Doubting Thomas!

  3. I think Revere may have used up all his fielding mojo on that one catch. He made an error in the suspended game leading to the Reds win, and looked really bad going back for that ball.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher hit a triple before. I could just be forgetting it but I certainly can’t recall one at the moment.

  5. So nice to hear the Reds hitting. I think the only person happier than I right now is Leake.

  6. Anyone see that shot of Homer in the dugout? He was looking at the scoreboard like “where were these runs last night?!?!?”

  7. So far, our #5 starter is looking a whole lot better than their #5 starter. Both at he plate and on the mound.

  8. This team needs an easy stretch. Allows Leake to pitch stress free and get some fine tuning.

    • Reds batters are fouling off a ton of pitches tonight.Very impressive.

Definitely battling tonight, they made life miserable for Lannan. Hope it keeps up as we wreck the Phillies bullpen!

  9. Crap! (no pun intended) Been cleaning the Head, did I miss anything? Who was that pitcher the Philly’s just sent to the showers, looked like Aaron Harang Jr. 6-0 Reds heading to the 3rd. So far So fun. Go Redlegs Go!!!

    • @hermanbates: It sure looks like it, doesn’t it? I know everybody is different, but sometimes it looks like he doesn’t want to be there.

Still a hell of a player.
