  1. All the Reds’ minor league teams have been through the starting rotation once. The pitching performances don’t have enough significance to review yet after only one game (obvious exception noted for Tony Cingrani), but there are some noteworthy early hitting performances. The following players have 2.4 AB per game played with an OPS higher than .800.

    AAA Louisville Bats:

    0.313/0.429/1.063 Mike Hessman (1B/3B)
    0.500/0.500/0.750 Billy Hamilton (CF)
    0.353/0.353/0.588 Jason Donald (IF)

    AA Pensacola Blue Wahoos:

    0.385/0.467/0.615 Tucker Barnhart (C)
    0.412/0.474/0.412 Brodie Greene (IF)

    A+ Bakersfield Blaze:

    none

    A- Dayton Dragons:

    0.357/.0.400/0.429 Carlos Sanchez (1B)

The Reds don’t have many SS prospects in the pipeline, but one individual of note is 20 year old Brent Peterson, playing for the Dragons this season, who has started well in 10 AB after a solid hitting performance in Rookie Ball last season, although his defense at SS will need improvement (.879 Fld% in 2012):

    0.700/0.727/0.900 Brent Peterson (SS-Dayton Dragons 2013)
    0.291/0.377/0.383 Brent Peterson (SS-Arizona Rookie 2012)

  2. If you’d have told me Hamilton would have gone 4 for 5, I’d have guessed he’d have 10 stolen bases! What a slacker!

  3. I’m not claiming cause and effect, but Barnhart had multi-hit games in his first two games, then gets sat down for a game, and hasn’t had a hit since…can’t figure out why you’d need to rest your #1 catching prospect for the 3rd game of the season.

  4. The “Choo Choo Train” is on fire at the plate, Uncle Bob shouldn’t let it leave the Reds Station (5 year deal get it done). Then next year when Hamilton is ready you move Choo back to left (Ludwick can come off the bench for all I care) with Hamilton in Center field and the best 1,2,3 (Choo, Hamilton, Votto) OBP lineup in the History of Baseball coming at you every day. Opposing pitchers won’t be able to sleep at night!

  5. Derrick Robinson getting the start tonight in left field. Hope for a 6-6 night from him, with 3 SB.

  6. I apologize for maybe not knowing if this has been covered … but what’s the story on Brodie Greene? Seems to me like a year or so ago, he was one of the “Futures” guys. Appears he’s been buried in the system.

  7. According to the milb stat site, he’s 26, was drafted 2 years ago, and had a bad year at AA last year.
