Baseball season is over

It’s only appropriate that it’s snowing here right now. The long, hard winter begins today.

Baseball season is over.

  1. @hermanbates: I don’t think Bailey is going anywhere unless it is on the flip side of a return as big or bigger than Latos was.

Over two stretches of a month or longer this year, Bailey showed he could pitch for an extended period at the same level as Cueto and Latos.

I’d go so far as to say Bailey is untouchable unless he and very little else bring back a very top of the heap outfielder or 3B.

  2. If the reds could get choo it would at least get them 3 more wins against the indians with Bronson probably willing to pick up part of the tab ! :D

Very True. He also smacked around some of the other Reds pitchers pretty well too

  3. Some notes:
Tony Cingrani, the Reds have worked very hard to build a pitching staff and I doubt they will consider moving such a key piece to their future. Trading pitching for hitting is a step in the wrong direction and a step away from the Reds’ priorities.

Mike Leake, I think he’s the only starting pitcher candidate who may become trade bait. He’s a capable 5th starter but he’s likely to lose his spot with the Reds if Chapman or Cingrani enter the rotation.

Kevin Youkilis for thirdbase? He’s from Cincinnati, so it sounds realistic. On the other hand the Reds strongly value defense, something Youkilis doesn’t offer. They’ve traded away Edwin Encarnacion and Juan Francisco because of their bad fielding. Scott Rolen’s shelf of Gold Glove Awards is a big part of why he stayed in the lineup and turning to Youkilis wouldn’t fit the team’s priorities.

David DeJesus, I still think they should pursue a trade for him. He could be a one year solution in LF or CF and to hit leadoff.

Coco Crisp, Grady Sizemore, Shane Victorino – if the Reds sign a washed up guy like that I hope supporters of the move won’t later blame Dusty if he gets playing time.
