“Earlier this season, Brennaman and Reds bench coach Chris Speier were talking. Speier opined that the Reds were capable of winning 10 in a row. No way, said Brennaman. Would you shave your head if we did? asked Speier. Sure, said Brennnaman.”
If historic winning streaks and head shaving don’t provide you with sufficient excitement, tune in tonight and pull up a keyboard to discuss the much anticipated 3-game series against the 2nd place Pittsburgh Pirates. Pirates. Yes, the Pittsburgh Pirates are over .500 and in second place in August. It’s the first time since 1990 that the Reds and Pirates square off in August or later with both teams being in 1st or 2nd place. (h/t to Joel Luckhaupt)
Mat Latos (9-3, 4.17 ERA) will get the ball in game 1 against the Pirates recently acquired left-handed starter, Wandy Rodriguez (7-9, 3.82 ERA). For anything you need to know about the Pirates, Steve provided his always excellent series preview earlier today.
As for Marty’s hair? Well, the John Erardi article in today’s Enquirer provides a great quote from Reds legend, Tom Browning:
“We’re going to find out if it’s really true that your hair will grow back after you’ve shaved it all off,” said Tom Browning, the former Reds pitcher who buzzes his own head as close as barber clippers will take it. “Marty’s hair was always pretty amazing. Nothing could move it. We (the Reds players) didn’t know if it was really hair, or steel wool.”

I smell a 600-post night.
Wonder what the Redleg record is?
@CharlotteNCRedsFan: Probably one of the playoff games from 2010 would be my guess.
None from me, I’m headed out to watch it with friends. Have a great time commenting fellas. Here’s hoping for a W.
If what they said on FSN was accurate, and if my math was as well, over July Chapman recorded only 8 outs that were in play. Over 13.2 innings, and a total of only 14 batters could put the ball in play. That’s….. Ridiculous
Looks like a good walkup. Can’t get two seats together anymore. That, my friends, is called a sellout.
(There were several hundred seats available a few hours ago.)
I may have missed this in the series overview, but does anyone know Valdez’s status?
Dusty said on the pregame that Valdez is better, should be able to play tomorrow. He didn’t exactly say Valdez couldn’t play today, but it didn’t sound like Dusty was planning to use him, either.
Still no BP. Playing short handed in the most important series of the season so far…sigh…
He is available. He will start tomorrow!
Done it how many times, seems to not bother this team..plus BP can PH if needed…
So excited to get started here! Go Reds!
Also, how many AB’s does Bruce have against Wandy Rodriguez in his career? I get sitting a guy if he historically doesn’t match up well with a pitcher, but I can’t imagine the sample size is that big with Bruce and how is it ever going to improve if he doesn’t get more AB’s against him? With no Votto or BP, we need every ounce of offense we can get.
Just another game…not any more important.
Beer, check. Pretzels, check. Rolaids, check. Defibrillator, check. Ready for an awesome night of Baseball, check. OK Reds time to fire a broadside at those scallywag Pirates. Go Reds Go!!!
Sellout tonight & tomorrow. Not Sunday as of yet.
@eric nyc: According to yahoo sports, Bruce vs Wandy:
29AB, 2H, 15K, 1GIDP
Not a ton but the massive amounts of Ks is worrying. Though he is 1 for 3 vs Wandy this year.
Yeah, I would say he has his number. I can understand Dusty pulling him tonight. Nice LH bench piece though.
First pitch fastball right down the center to McCutchen. Don’t do that anymore, Latos.
Balking Bob – nice call!
Bad throw from Hanigan. Should have been 2.
Maybe Hanigan thought that was ball 4. I certainly did.
Take note: the Reds just got the benefit of a very questionable call by a home plate umpire. I guess this means anything’s possible.
Big break there.
Snider’s leg was touching Cairo’s leg, not on base. He was out.
C’mon don’t start walking people.
Not Hanigan’s finest inning….
Hanigan getting crossed up?
Advantage: Reds
Negated
Un-negated. Advantage: Reds
Okay. Mat got the job done. Let’s score a couple of runs.
Ok, little jittery but just the first inning. Latos should get a rhythm now.
Lato’s has no touch for the curve yet. Jones went after ball 4.
Does Hanigan look off today? First inning jitters for a big game maybe? Let’s hope that’s all it is
Hanigan looked a little discombobulated to start the game.
Cozart right back in that leadoff spot…sheesh.
Like the 1st quarter of a Super Bowl. Everyone’s nerves are a little raw. Of course with the obvious exception of Super Todd.
Whoa, a lead off single.
I retract my previous comment. Zack Cozart is the greatest leadoff hitter in the history of baseball.
Who would EVER doubt Cozart as a leadoff hitter?
Dusty is a genius.
Wandy spotting the fastball at the knees very well.
Swap Stubbs and Cozart on the bases. Not the worst thing in the world considering I usually expect a K.
Horrible luck, WOW. Hope that’s not a bad omen.
Huh…Oh well.
Well that was an unfortunate turn of events. Hopefully Latos has the 1st inning jitters out of the way.
Wow, that was unlucky. If Stubbs isn’t running, that’s a hit.
Dang that Frazier!
And that’s why they call him Super Todd!
Frazier…
Some serious Frazer defense
SUPER TODD!
Looks like the ball is slipping out of Latos’ hand. Get some rosen on that.
Nasty pitch.
Latos is throwing “hard:.
Careful now, Barajas can hit a fastball
@vegastypo:
Thanks. (And incidentally, I think you may have the most intriguing of all RLN usernames. I keep assuming there’s a pun in there somewhere, but can’t seem to identify it.)
If we ever make it to a World Series parade, I’ll fill you in!!!!
Nice quick inning.
Good 2nd by Latos.
Boy the balls are not carrying this week.
Ok, time to end this not-scoring nonsense. Go to it, TF.
I took the plunge and bought the mlb.t.v subscription today. $39.99 for the remainder of the season. Can’t believe the picture quality. Already had the audio, took about 2 min. to complete the transaction. Well worth the price IMO.
Trust me you will have no regrets.
Guess your Granny is going to have to wait on that heart transplant. Bummer.
Really making Wandy work…
@Sergeant2: I love it. Watch games on my iphone all the time when I’m not at home.
It would have cost $49.99 for that option. No iphone or other devices so I didn’t need the premium package.
Finally a decent AB.
Advantage Reds!
Heisey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, that wasn’t very exciting.
Go Heisey go
WOW!!!!!!
Heisey! Just as Marty was saying he hasn’t hit many home runs this year.
Heisey!!!!! Although his terrible slide made that way closer than it should have been. But who cares, lead and momentum Reds!
nice job HEISEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow wow wow inside the parker. That alone was worth $39.99
Wow…Chris Heisy with his best at-bat of the season.
HEISEY!!! That is just awesome!
Chris Welsh: “Now THAT is something that happened.”
That’s why I pay for that MLB.tv subscription. Insight.
HEI-SEY ITPHR
ITP HR- the single most exciting play in baseball.
@CharlotteNCRedsFan: Priorities are priorities right?
Latos is dealing now.
Yeah I saw him the 2nd inning and it looks like he has his stuff tonight. He’s throwing lasers to the bottom of the zone.
You know, I wonder how Bruce feels about riding the pine in a big like this.
That breaking ball is nasty tonight. Along with a fastball topping out at 96. Oh yes.
was McCutcheon slow to backup on Heisey shot?
McCutchen was nowhere close. Ball took a really weird bounce off the wall too.
@Sergeant2: …a big game. oops.
Latos best 3 innings this year, IMO.
@Sergeant2: I’m sure we’ll see him PH later.
@jas_428: Looked like he heading there late. He was pretty quick getting there, and that plus a great block of the plate nearly threw Heisey out.
Crowd sounds great tonight. Really into it already.
Latos is definitely on. If this is how he reacts to big games then I’m really goign to like this guy down the stretch.
@eric nyc: So far, so good. I wanna see how he pitches in the 4th and 5th innings. Seem to be trouble spots for him so far this year. Let’s see how he handles the heart of their order in the 4th.
@RedLegHerrm: Got love that inning!
@RedLegHerrm: You called it.
Time for Drew to go deep.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but Zack Cozart is the greatest leadoff hitter in the history of baseball and I have always stood by that.
Fans aren’t fickle. Nope. Not at all.
Morgan just said he has some “concerns” about Todd Frazier in the playoffs because he’s never played there before. Does Morgan know ANYTHING about this team?
@zippy: Joe might know the Reds but he obviously doesn’t know Todd Frazier.
Before 1972, Joe Morgan had never played in the playoffs before. How’d that work out for him & his team?
Well he just said that his first trip to the playoffs and WS he played pretty poorly.
OK, I’ll grant him the WS claim; he hit on the interstate vs. the A’s. But the playoffs? Hit .263 (OK, low) but had 2 HR & 3 SB. But here’s another name who had never been in the post-season before 2010: Roy Halladay. And we all know how his first post-season appearance turned out. I think Joe Morgan thinks if he doesn’t constantly talk & make stuff up, they’ll take his mic away.
Yes I know that was sarcasm.
@zippy: Joe had better not let Todd Frazier hear him talking like that…
I’d have concerns about Frazier in the playoffs too… Well if I was om the other team that is.
Joe was talking about the value of the 2010 run on these guys. Then he said Cozart and Frazier were the exceptions and tried to clarify the concern comment.
Joe knows….Frazier and gave support to Cozart.
A 4-6-3 would be nice right now.
or a strikeout
Hanigan is back.
Hanny drops him
Latos is hitting his spots very well right now, and didn’t react negatively towards giving up the hit in the heart of the order.
And a great throw by Hanigan that time.
Perfect execution there. Nice work!
Every time you get by McCutchen without giving up a run you drop the chances of the Pirates winning this by at least 20%.
Here we go –
Luddy, Rolen, FRAZIER
We should get a crooked number out of this
Nice pitchout call, Dusty.
Wandy ain’t fooling anybody.
We’re not exactly crushing him. A few long outs, but we’ve got our HR swings out tonight.
@Redgoggles: Somehow the meat of the bat is being missed. That really is Wandy’s style. A lot of comfortable 0-fers.
Other than Heisey we are hacking even more than usual. What’s Wandy’s pitch count up to? 20?
47
Reds seem to be a little too amped. They are trying too hard.
All these hard hit fly balls have to be getting out sooner or later. Wandy is really leaving the ball up.
Nearly 50 actually. He had a couple of very long at bats, Heisey’s specifically. He just keeps leaving the ball up and they are starting to hack at it every chance they get.
Wandy’s getting in the kitchen, lots of swings/contact near the handle. Good pitching.
I think this is the key inning for Latos.
Charlie & Martin Sheen at GABP?
Huh…Didn’t know CHarlie and Martin Sheen were Reds fans.
@eric nyc: Charlie is a notorious Reds fan. Keep the women at home tonight fellows.
Charlie and Martin Sheen are at the game, pretty cool. Even if they are bandwagon jumpers on, I say welcome aboard.
Does Latos have a third pitch? I’m only seeing fastball / slider. No change up?
Mr.McGoo behind the plate !!
@George Culver: He’s throwing his curve.
Come on Mat buckle down.
Potential game changing AB by Walker right there.
Latos gave up trying to put Walker away. Just couldn’t
That was a nice AB after falling behind. Wish we could have a couple of those.
Great AB by Walker.
Cairo is not BP…………or even Valdez.
After seeing Cairo pull this 2 days in a row – Dusty, please tell us again why Super Todd Frazier can’t play 2nd if needed??
Geesh….
Cairo should have had that…. At least he got one
Walk a Walker.
Nice recovery, but that still shoudl have been a double play.
Cairo coughs up a DP ball for the second day in a row. Somewhere BP is seething.
Big out here. Come on Latos.
Mat needs to get his focus back.
visit to mound beneficial? slow him down a bit?
Yes
My stomach is gonna be in knots before this one is over.
WP sets us the IBB to the .207 hitter.
Keep it together Mat….
They giving Cairo an error on that play?
Can’t assume a DP. No error.
Now we’re getting squeezed.
That pitch did not miss. Bad bad call by the ump.
The heckler is probably from Pittsburgh……
One thing Hanigan does a lot that Mes doesn’t seem to do (at least not very often) is to really try to frame every pitch that seems close. I think it’s a great move, and I wish Mes would do it more often. It’s not that the ump is suddenly going to change a ball call to a strike call, but I think it may help get some borderline pitches called strikes. It’s sort of like saying “ok, you gave that pitch to the hitter, I expect you to give us the next one.” I’m not sure it works, but it can’t hurt.
Bottom of the order. We can still get out of this. Just settle down Mat.
Done. No problem.
DP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NICE!
Latos is spitting cotton.
poor Barmes, yeah Reds
Brian Price for MVP.
Thank you! Latos needed that.
Umm… Mat I wouldn’t be arguing calls with the ump just yet…
@eric nyc: If he got an out there’s no error. Can’t assume the double play would be made.
Definitely getting squeezed.
Time to get a couple of runs and stopping swinging for the fences.
Agree.
Why swing at the 2-0 jam pitch ?
Over-aggressive is the word.
@localboy: Because Chris Heisey presses when he’s starting. Always has.
wrong location to swing on first strike for Chris
Votto taking batting practice! Best news I’ve heard all week!
Latos needs to stand there and take 3 strikes
Or not
Latos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Latos!(?)
Mat Latos! Home run baby!
Who was the player in the Reds dugout wearing number 19? He looked kind of familiar.
WOW!!!!
Wow. Funny looking HR trot but who cares!
Wow.
!!!!
And Cozart’s 3 for 3!
For anyone watching the game – you need to hear Martys call on that homer by Latos.
HOF quality!
Some self help!
Cozart 3 for 3 with the smart bunt
LATOS!!!!!!!!!
Playing some ball now!
And a very very nice play by Cozart! Very smart move to bunt there. Let’s start a run Stubby!
That Pirates fan that caught the HR was awesome.
Marty knows how to call a HR. Listen and learn Cowboy.
Keep showing that hanging curve till Stubbs gets on it
Get on base and give Luddy a shot!
Stubbs is really putting together some very nice ABs.
Ludwick, you’re up.
Oh please Ludwick patience and then bring the pain
Come on Ludwick!
Come on Ludwick!!
May not have been a pretty hit but still a good at bat by Stubbs and I’ll take it to get Mr. Ludwick up to the plate, I’d say he’s about due here.
I am still amazed Latos hit that home run…
I’m glad Stubbs is still on the team. I reserve the right to change my mind anytime I want, but for now I’m really glad he’s still a Red.
Wandy don’t want none of Ludwick
Nice inning and a little cushion.
Sigh…
Swing at one over his
head?
2-0 Brewers over the Cards in the 2nd.
Oof. leadoff single to Rodriguez.
Just need 1 more out of Mat. Give it all you got kid!
DP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, Wandy’s tearing the cover off the ball. .025 BA. Mercy!
I’m beginning to think Cozart’s hands are as good as Phillips
Love clearing the bases in front of McCutchen. Anyone think Cozart gets some Gold Glove votes this year?
Attention! Latos’s ERA is now under 4 for the first time since April. Miracles do come true.
Crew up 3-0 over Birdbrains
Bullpen has the lead, I’m thinking GAME OVER
Nice quick inning! This one’s looking better and better.
If the pen does its job McCutchen only gets one more AB and it’s leading off the next inning.
I still think Latos will go out for the seventh. He’s only at 84 pitches and has been pretty good so far. Dusty wants to keep that bullpen rested.
That’s probably true but I’d have a couple of someones stretching anyway
That inning right there, the Reds Defense looked as smooth as silk. Very impressive.
I took one for the team tonite- I had a choice between benching Joe Kelly or Randy Wolf; so I benched Wolf because when I bench someone they pitch like a Hall of Famer……………….YOU’RE WELCOME!
Lot of ugly ABs tonight.
I think it’s very considerate of Frazier to let other people have all the glory tonight. He’s truly a saint.
@RedLegHerrm: There’s another. But 3-zip. I’ll take it.
Ugly AB from Heisey.
such a good first at bat followed by two bad ones for Heisey
Big inning coming up.
@RedLegHerrm: Agree with you Red. If we go unscathed this inning, it is as close to a wrap as can be.
Cairo?!!!!!
Ok. Cairo just made up for his earlier play.
That might make up for the botched DP for Cairo
I guess Cairo made up for that mishap earlier. Not BP magic but still very good play.
I know Cairo’s blown a couple DP balls in the past few days, but he’s made some GEMS too.
Looks hot and humid in Cincy tonight. Whats the temperature (or as they say in Cincy tempuh-tour)
They are making this look easy.
The back half of the Pirates lineup are cupcakes. If he can get out of this AB quickly I dont’ see any reason to not send him out for the 8th.
Was about to say, I let Latos start the 8th. 6,7,8 are coming up.
He got dat curve where he wants it now
Don’t look now but a 2-hitter through 7.
Jinx?
You know in close games like this I’d rather see Marshall, Broxton, and Chapman come in here. With cueto and Latos especially. Both have consistently gone deep in terms of pitch counts, even if it hasn’t been deep into the game. I’d want to see the rotation get a bit of rest before the final push. Of course I also recognize its thought to take a guy out when his pitching well for a shutout. Short leash I guess.
The Latos-Cozart show has been fantastic tonight.
Get Broxton and Chapman up, but I send Latos out for the 8th with a bit of a leash. I don’t think they have a batter hitting over .220 until their lineup turns over. You might even be able to get a CG out of Latos if he keeps pitching like this.
Respect for Latos
Boy that HR was a pretty swing from Latos.
Wandy’s been really sharp for the most part.
Good thing Hanigan doesnt get paid for his running ability.
Remember that next time someone says “Oh come on, he’s not to slow to bat 2nd!”
I’ll remember that, if you remember how nice it was to have him on base when a home run was hit. You normally see a lot more of those from your #3 hitter than your pitcher.
Don’t let this get away.
Nice sight: Broxton and Marshall warming up. Not too bad.
Pulling their starting SS?
Do you think the Marshall feels the ground shake each time Broxton throws that big body on that plant foot? I still can’t believe how big he is.
crap
I’m pulling Latos.
Latos doesn’t get to face the tying run in my book
Stubbs gave up on that. he’s done that a couple times this year. Time to bring in Marshall to face the lefty.
time for the hook
Price giving Marshall some time to warm up. Stalling.
Good call, Latos should not lose this game.
Good move and great game by Mat Latos. Inspiring.
Why have out starters had so much trouble retiring the opposing pitcher the last 3 games?
Should be Marshall.
Wait…is that hand gesture BINDING? Seriously?
My stomach is getting tight again.
Lets go Brox!
Strange not to go to Marshall and make the Pirates burn another hitter. Great outing for Latos.
It looked like Price just screwed up and raised the wrong arm. The ump came over and said “Really? You want a righty?” and then Price immediately went to the crew chief and started arguing.
That was strange. Price clearly didn’t want Broxton.
Seriously?
They invested in an 8th inning ‘closer’ and they are going to use him!
The Reds now have Ondru the Giant and Broxton the Large.
The Reds have the best bullpen in baseball, good move by Dusty.
too much of plate
Oh well…how about one of those groundballs?
Brox clocked at 95!
Apparently the reports of Broxton’s fastball being dead have been highly exaggerated.
Love those DPs.
Nice!
X Factor!
Hoover!
Called it.
Broxton. You big stud.
Two words I never thought I’d utter: “Yay, Broxton”
I let Brox go back out for the 9th and don’t burn Chapman unless necessary. Save him for tomorrow night.
Need 1 more run to insure that it happens.
If Broxton continues to throw like this the rest of the year, the Reds should try and sign him for next year. One less reason to have Chapman as closer.
This is fun. Listened to Marty’s call of Latos’ bomb in the car. Nice.
Won’t happen, but I say bring him back to start the 9th and keep Chapman in your back pocket. He’s throwing strikes, and you never know for sure with Chapman.
No need to start any closer controversy. Plus, we have Marshall as the emergency option.
Another DP the teams D is shinning bright tonight. My first look at Broxton tonight, that man looks like a Sequoya.
Just checked in. Nice to see we’ve finally dispensed with the obligatory lineup lament to start the night …
Crap, we’re winning again///
Wandy did pitch well. Bad D on the inside the parker and a two run bomb by the pitcher. So far as advertised.
Just got home and turned the game on. Can someone review everything that has happened in the game so far?
Good laughs on the scoring summary. Gotta believe Latos just doubled his BA.
He was a foot off the bag when he caught that.
Dusty almost left the dugout to argue a call. This is intense.
40,829 on hand for tonight’s titanic struggle, 40,829. Except Marty left out the titanic struggle part. Hair nerves perhaps.
@Steve Mancuso: Chris Heisey hit an inside the park homer, and Latos sent one into the the left field seats to score two more. Also Latos’s ERA is under 4 for the first times since April and the Reds are the best team in the Majors. Any questions?
That seems to cover it, thanks. Oh, but what about Marty’s hair?
Also, some really fantastic defensive plays from Cozart, Cairo (yes, THAT Cairo), and Frazier (yes, THAT Frazier). And at least two Sheens are in attendance.
@MikiLove:
Question: the Reds are the best team in the Majors?
Uneventful night for Ludwick. ALmost like we didn’t need to sit him for a second day in a week when he was going hot.
Ludwick is obviously not a 3 hole hitter. /sarcasm
Ludwick really looks like he’s trying to hard to make an impact right now. I think the series is getting to his head. Needs to take a step back and just do what he’s done best lately, just hit the ball and it will fly.
2 right handed hitters and a lefty sandwiched in between. I still like Brox here. But no here comes the missile.
Did anyone ever determine if Price really wanted Marshall instead of Broxton???
the double plays have been huge
Three of them in a three run game. In-deed.
@zblakey: Didn’t come up again on the broadcast, though I do think it’s odd that they pulled the LH batter who was on deck once it happened and went with a righty batting .200.
Anyone else notice how close Rolen hangs out around the mound when Chapman is warming up? Don’t see him doing that with anybody else. Encouragement and calming perhaps?
Oh man I get to watch the Cuban missile.
Easy save situation, but a good time to break the souls of the Pirates by throwing Chapman out there. He’ll shellshock them so bad they will just forfeit the next two games out of fear.
If they wanted to do that they’d have Todd Frazier close.
Here’s 100 rook. What cha got?
Ball 3 was clearly strike 3 on Gameday.
Foxtrax showed that to be a strike
Ball 3 was DEFINITELY strike 3.
There’s 1.
Davidson hasnt had the best day behind the plate.
Wat up with the stretch with no runners?
trouble locating the slider?
@Steve Mancuso: Getting shaved after the game. You can look it up on Reds.com. They’ll gonna need a chainsaw for that stuff.
Why is Chapman working out of the stretch, and more importantly, why didn’t Hanigan seem to know what was happening?
And 2.
Snyder swinging with eyes closed?
I guess if you are going to hit a Pirate…..
@MikiLove: And by look it up, I mean they’re showing it live on Reds.com.
Oh boy – this series just got a whole lot more interesting.
Wow…I hope Joey doesn’t play in this series because if he does he’s getting drilled in the head his first AB.
With McCutchen looming 3rd in the 9th inning; don’t fool around with destiny.
At least it wasn’t another phantom HBP.
#3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
24 games over .500 and it’s “August 3rd”!!!!!!
Nice. So who gets hit tomorrow?
Chapman three strikes over 100 to end it. Yawn.
Clutch was crowding the plate, he won’t next time.
100% chance one of our guys gets nailed tomorrow. Clint Hurdle doesn’t mess around. I hope that was totally unintentional.
@earmbrister: Are you seriously asking, or just being sarcastic?
Pitching dominance, Pitching dominance, Pitching dominance
Don’t whine McCutcheon, just pick up your arm and take your base.
Answer: the Reds certainly seem to be the best team in MLB.
The icing on the cake would be if mlb tv shows Marty getting buzzed.
that would be, like, cool
Going to get my hot wings ready for the show after the show.
4.5! 4.5!
Sarcastic, then got bounced off the site. Apparently the server doesn’t do sarcasm.
McCutchen threw fit in dugout after game.
So, McCutchen gets one hit, but it’s only a single, he gets thrown out stealing, he fails to back up the Heisey wallball that ends up as an inside-the-parker, then he caps his night by getting drilled by Chapman. I don’t think I’d want to be in Ludwick’s or Phillips’ shoes tomorrow. I don’t think the Bucs will let that one go …
@vegastypo: Yeah, I’m in “let the sleeping dogs lie”. No need to get them riled up. Now if they were beating our butts after taking the first 2 of 3 in a series? That is a totally different story.
@CharlotteNCRedsFan: Unintentional or not you are right. I think anyone would retaliate after their best hitter got nailed by one of Chapman’s pitches. Although I don’t think it was, I think he saw the best hitter beside Votto at the plate and got a bit too amped up on it.
Just HOW GOOD is it to be a Reds fan ???
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=16646010&c_id=CIN&content_id=23541149
Look at all that plastic under that barber chair. How much hair can he have?
@Redgoggles: Haha! That is awesome!
@vegastypo: Heck, I think CNN is covering it.
Great win for the Reds tonight, winning this first game was huge. The team played like it was business as usual tonight, the Pirates not so much. All though Wandy pitched a heck of a game. Looking forward to tomorrows game. Go Reds!! Adios Amigos.
A gift courtesy of Head n Shoulders? A little ironic, nice.
relieved that the buzz has not been more of a distraction…the real story is the Reds play even with stars on bench
I hope Marty has some fake tan handy for his newly bald head
I’d guess this is a World’s record for haircut attendance.
Maybe Dave Pallone can come out and give Marty a shave when the haircut is done. That would be worth an extra $50k.
Nicely done Marty.
When I reported to Parris Island, it took about 30 seconds to achieve the Mr. Clean look. Well done Marty, your a good Man.
i see people asking about chapman throwing from the stretch… i think he was having a tough time getting his feet comfortable on the mound (he was digging with his spikes a lot) so instead of getting out of rhythim and having the ground crew come work on it, he just went from the stretch. worked out well.
