For 2012 #1 pick Nick Travieso, it was his
major leagueprofessional debut.Don’t remember seeing Nick in the game here in Cincinnati yesterday.
Is it possible Brackman is getting a complete makeover in Bakersville. Something’s up here. Brackman, a former 1st round choice by the Yankees, played in the Bigs, was competing for a spot on the 25-man in Spring Training, played at AAA until recently, gets demoted two levels and is floundering there? Like I said, something’s up. That’s not normal.
@TC:
Was his draft number revoked?
Good to see Valaika doing good. Something about him I like. And, he has a bit of a history of being good hitter and did bat alright with the big club last year. I think he could be a very serviceable bench and utility player.
Denis Phipps continues his torrid hitting. He may just salvage something from this year if he keeps it up. @steveschoen: Steve, I have been a fan of Valaika too with his potential for a utility role at the ML level. He has always performed well at the ML level when given an opportunity. I think his star may have lost some of its luster with his subpar performance at AAA the past two seasons. @TC: TC, I hope that the Reds are attempting a complete makeover for Brackman into a reliever. If not, then their experiment has failed miserably and they are just burying him rather than releasing him.
@TC: After reports at the offseason signing that they figured out what was wrong with his control, Brackman went on to walk 27 & strike out 22 in 29.1 innings, spanning 8 starts between AAA and A+. They finally moved him from the A+ rotation to the A+ bullpen after the Bakersfield all-star break, and he has been pitching much better. Just 3 walks in 16.2 innings over the past month.
