Wow, this is the experience that Billy Hamilton needed, not playing against overmatched players in A+. He is no longer stealing bases at will, although he is still having success. His SB success rate is 72% since moving to AA compared to 82% at A+. Now he will have to work on his technique and timing. His batting is another matter. Hamilton’s AVG is .258, but he is working the count in every PA and he is GETTING ON BASE!!! His line is .258/.410/.452. You keep working Billy and next spring you will see AAA and then…
Could Denis Phipps finally be breaking out of his season-long funk? Since the all star break, he is hitting .385/.467/.564. His star is about to fall below several other OF prospects if he doesn’t kick it into gear for the rest of this season.
Yorman Rodriguez could fall into the same category as a young (20 next month) OF. After his demotion (.156/.181/.200 in A+) back to AZ for some serious work and his assignment to A-, he is hitting as expected (.304/.336/.490) after his rookie year at Billings (.339/.361/.456) in 2010. Let’s hope he has found the consistency he needs to continue.
They’re afraid to pitch to Corky. A .423 OBP with 43 walks in 163 official ABS.
Maybe some day Corky will be the Reds bench coach and hitting coach !
@BloodyHo: Right, this is good for Hamilton’s development. 72% is not good enough. He needs to work it back up to over 80% at this level.
