The pitching staffs at the upper minor league levels are slowly but surely beginning to take shape. Pedro Villarreal is now headlining the starting staff in AAA with Donnie Joseph, J.J. Hoover, Kanekoa Texiera and Nick Christiani leading and increasingly formidable bullpen. Tony Cingrani, Kyle Lotzkar and Daniel Corcino are leading an impressive starting staff in AA with Brian Pearl and Wilkin De La Rosa leading a revamped and continuingly effective bullpen. The really encouraging developments are that talented individuals in the lower levels are continuing solid performances and new talent is being replenished in A- & A+ from very young individuals. The pitching pantries are no longer devoid of talent approaching major league readiness. We just have to tough it out through this year and our minor league system will once again be churing along at full speed.

Why is Hamilton still wasting away in High A? Or at the very least, why is he still at SS? Even if Cozart isn’t the SS of the future (he sure looks it, solid enough bat, very smooth defense, all in his rookie year) Hamilton already has 18 errors, and didn’t he have like 39 errors last year? Or was it the year before? Either way, being on pace for like ~160 stolen bases while hitting .332/.419/.448 is awesome, but doesn’t that generally mean he’s above the level of competition and needs to be moved up?

Throw him into AA, or make him a LF/CF.

@FreeHeisey: I’m sure Hamilton is soon on his way to AA. As for still at SS, he is still there because he has the tools to be a very good defensive one. Errors are only part of the story and will reduce in number as his mechanics improve. Concepcion made a lot errors early in his career as well.

Also consider that Bakersfield has a infamously bad ballpark and high error totals for their infielders is the norm. So if he only matches last year’s error total, that would be a marked improvement having played half his games in Bakersfield.
