It is trivia question time.
Here is how this will work. The first person to correctly answer the upcoming trivia question in the comments portion of this post will win the two tickets to tomorrow’s game. The winning person will be contacted via email with the details of how to receive your tickets. Here’s the question…
When I was about 8 years old, my family went on our summer vacation to Cincinnati to watch the Reds. While killing time one afternoon, we went to one of the local malls. While walking through the mall, my father saw a man in one of the department stores that he insisted was a Reds player. He told me I should go up to him and ask for his autograph. Not quite knowing how to approach the man, I came up with a plan. I walked up to him and asked him “Has anyone ever told you that you look like ____ ______?” His response was “Yeah, my mother did when she named me that when I was born.”
Embarrassed, I mutter if I can have his autograph. He says yes as long as his wife is still in the dressing room.
Thus the question, which Reds relief pitcher did I run into at the mall over 20 years ago?
Happy guessing, and good luck.
Edit #2! – Am I a goof or what? After declaring OklahomaChase the winner, it appears as though we had more people eager for these tickets than I thought as many comments were awaiting moderation. Cincy0003 answered correctly first based on the time stamps of the messages and thus Cincy0003 will be the winner. I will now go hide under a rock…

Ill post hints periodically.
I am 31 now, so it would have been 23 years ago that I was 8.

Norm Charlton
John Franco? Rob Dibble? Rob Murphy?

Norm Charlton
Well, obviously, it was Frank Williams.
Wow, looks like we only have one person really eager for these tickets. I said I was “about 8″. After looking at this player’s personal Reds stats, that would have been his first season with the Reds 23 years ago. Perhaps I was closer to 9 or 10 when this player really gained fame as a Reds pitcher…
Who is Ron Robinson, the “True Creature”
Norm charleton
Charlton
Norm Charlton?
Keith Brown
Randy Myers
Jeff Gray
Keith Brown or Pat Pacillo?
Randy Meyers
Danny Jackson
Jack Armstrong?
I can’t use the tix, as I will be in Houston. But I too would guess Charlton from the clues. Since he’s been guessed, I’d take a shot that you’re toying with us a bit and would say Jack Armstrong, who I guess may have been in the bullpen in ’88.
Randy Myers
Pat Perry
ROB DIBBLE
Dennis Rasmussen
Jose Rijo
Chris Hammond
Sweet! And to think it only took 6 guesses!
Norm Charlton
Pat Perry
OK, in typical goof up mode by me. A lot of the comments did not show at the right time. We had comments in moderation mode.
Did Oklahoma chase win the tickets?
Cincy0003 and OklahomaChase, I have emailed both of you….
Just for the record, I’m an idiot!
Nick Esasky?
That’s not really a “trivia” question. It’s more of a “guess who I’m thinking of” question.
It’s a good story though. Who was it? Everyone answers like eight time each so it’s hard to tell. Charlton?
I wanted to use a question that the answer couldn’t just be googled. Charlton was the answer.
Just to ease the minds of the nation, and my own, I gave oklahomachase a nice consolation prize for my screw up!
Ah, Charlton. A funny thing was that Dibble and Myers used to call him “The Genius” because he had a triple major in college.
