Okay, enough apathy; it’s time to work up some enthusiasm.
Who is going to Redsfest this weekend? Our buddies at OMGReds and Red Reporter are going; hopefully, we’ll bump into each other at some point.
I’ve never attended before, so I’m looking forward to being there on Friday and Saturday. Everyone tells me it’s a great time. Of course I have no interest in autographs, but it sounds like there are a lot of other interesting things happening this weekend. Like listening to Walt Jocketty wax poetic. And this:
Reds Hall of Famer and shortstop great Barry Larkin is the latest member of the 1990 World Series team to confirm that he will be at Redsfest.
Larkin, a 12-time All-Star, is scheduled to appear on Friday when members of the 1990 team are reunited on the main stage at the Duke Energy Center main stage at 6:30 p.m. ET….
Other members of the 1990 team expected to attend are manager Lou Piniella, Eric Davis, Todd Benzinger, Tom Browning, Hal Morris, Ron Oester and Chris Sabo.
I hope I get to meet Todd Benzinger!!!
On Saturday, I’m entered in the Reds Community Fund poker tournament. It starts at 5 pm, and I will probably be eliminated by 5:15, so that should be fun.
If you are going to be there, let me know. Post here or send me a tweet. It’d be great to put a face with some of your usernames. I will be there on Friday and Saturday, at various times, and I hope I’ll be joined by some other RN editors.
If nothing else, Redsfest seems like a great opportunity to get a little Reds buzz before we hibernate for the winter. That’s definitely a good thing.

I wish I could go. My mom and brother will be there. I can barely convince the wife to go back to Ohio for Christmas. Using my keen man sense of awareness I think that means Redsfest is out this year.
unfortunately my plans (and finances) changed and I will be unable to attend.
Hope to hear some encouraging reports from someone.
On an unreleated note: Has anyone heard how Dallas Buck is progressing? I know he had TJ surgery and was trying to regain the velocity he had in college. Any word?
Wish I could, but the Red’s didn’t see fit consult me when setting the date.
Budget and a poor running car will keep me in Indy. I hope to catch the caravan when they hit in Jan. Can’t believe I am missing RF with sweet Lou making an appearance.
I’m volunteering at RedsFest on Friday, out of town on Saturday. Current assignment is handing out Chris Dickerson cards in the evening. Don’t know yet what I’ll be doing in the earlier part of Friday. Was down at the Convention Center tonight for training. It’s pretty gigantic, with lots to do. They have an amazingly big selection of memorabilia and USED Reds products, like bats, jerseys etc. I was impressed at how first class it seems. Very well organized. They said they are expecting 18-19,000 people over the two days. Most of the current Reds, including many minor leaguers, will be there. Sadly (for me) no Homer Bailey or Paul Janish, at least according to the printed program.
Can’t make it this year due to various sons’ basketball games (5 boys). But thankful to have found Redleg Nation this year. I’m sure there will be great notes and updates on the site. Thanks to all who post!
My wife (Jessica – she has posted a few times also) and I are going to be there tonight. This will be my first time going.
WAY too far…
WAY too cold…
Otherwise, I’d be there.
