One guess and out for me. I’ll check back tomorrow:

    Browning
    Soto
    Rijo
    Harang
    Arroyo
    Luque
    Vandermeer
    Gullet

That’s all I’ve got, and I doubt those are all right. This is going to be a tough list.

I’ll go with Nux, Maloney, Zachary, Harang or Hume, Browning or Billingham, Walters (bet Weathers is close), Pastore, and Derringer. I’ll puzzle over this awhile and try again.

KY Chip has picked up a couple of more…

Eppa Rixey is the R leader with 148

And, I didn’t think this would happen so soon….Si Johnson is the J leader with 86. Si’s record with the Reds was only 46-86, including a 22 loss season and a 19 loss season.

What, no mention of Danny Graves yet? I don’t really imagine he’s the leader, but I had to say it.

    For “T” – Brett Tomko
    For “H” – Noodles Hahn
For “K” – Clay Kirby or Johnny Klippstein (sp?)
For “C” – Clay Carrol or Jonny Cueto
For “P” – Ted Power or Bob Purkey?
    For “O” – Gotta be Jim O’Toole

Gotta go to church now. Bad part is, I know I’ll be thinking about this list now instead of the sermon!

Thanks for your hard work! I love this site.

Fred Toney is the T with 49
Ray Kolp is the K with 65…

Bert Inks had one loss, so I’ll go with him for I.

For Y I’ll go with the “Y Man”: Earl Yingling.

It’s interesting how for most losses, the right guesses are mostly good pitchers and the wrong guesses are mostly bad pitchers. At the end, we should look at how many times (in the alphabet game) the career Reds leader for losses was different from the leader for wins.

For C I’ll go with Elton Chamberlain. Everyone knows Wilt was cool, I didn’t know Elton was.

Elton P. “Icebox” Chamberlain, had to be one cool dude.

    ReplyReply

Here’s a shocker….Bert Inks is NOT the I…he is second with the one loss. Another pre-1900 I pitcher lost more games…

Earl Yingling is the Y with 13.

Elton “Icebox” Chamberlain is the all-time C loser leader with 44.

Two letters remain…I and G. The G is modern day pitcher, but was early in the century. His best season was his rookie season when he went 19-11 with a 2.01 ERA and did not allow a home run in 260 innings pitched.

The I leader was pre-1900…and over 40% of the runs he allowed were unearned….
