Dragons Serrano named MWL Pitcher of the Week

From the Dayton Dragons:

Dayton, Ohio—Dayton Dragons right-handed pitcher Mark Serrano was selected today as the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 10-16.

Serrano made one start during the week, tossing seven scoreless innings against West Michigan on August 12th. He allowed only two hits and no walks while striking out 10.

Serrano was a 2009 sixth round draft pick by the Cincinnati Reds out of Oral Roberts University. In seven games with the Dragons including four starts, he is 1-0 with a 1.21 earned run average. He has walked just five hitters while striking out 34. Serrano is scheduled to start tonight’s game and carries a 20 and two-thirds innings scoreless streak into the game.

The Dragons play at Fort Wayne tonight and Tuesday night before returning home to begin a series against West Michigan on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.

His numbers speak for themselves…Followed him at ORU, and he’s only lost 2 games in the last 2 years…Hopefully the pitching weak Reds give him a fair shot…Signed for the bargain basement price of 25k…Has recovered nicely from Tommy John…
