Calling for support

Chad posted in one of the threads yesterday that Matt Klinker, one of our Spotlight Players, is being called up to make a start tomorrow night (August 2nd) at Louisville against the Columbus Clippers Charlotte Knights. I hope anyone and everyone that can make it to the game will join my wife, Linda and I in supporting Matt by attending his first AAA start.

  • Yeah, I posted it in the game thread yesterday, but I was planning on posting it on the front page today. You beat me to it, Bill.

I’m trying to shuffle some things around so that I can make the trip up to L’ville. I encourage everyone to do the same.

I believe they are playing the Charlotte Knights, not the Clippers. Good luck Matt!

  • I have plans unfortunately or I would be there. That said, I expect a full scouting report when you guys get back. I will just have to settle for watching it online in a few days when the archive of it goes up. Best of luck Matt!

Matt pitched well. He only lasted 3 2/3 innings because he was struck by a ball (did not seem serious). I thought he did a good job for his first AAA start. Lee Tabor also did fairly well (his first AAA appearance as well). He was able to get alot of ground ball outs.

  • I thought he looked “uncomfortable”.

It seemed to me like he was having real trouble locating his breaking ball and if you go by the Bats scoreboard gun, his velocity was down a little. I don’t know if he wasn’t hitting the corners of if the ump was squeezing the plate (he didn’t seem to give any of the pitcher’s inside corner calls), but he was uncharacteristicily wild.

Hopefully, he’ll get another shot in 4 days.
