Please, Johnny Cueto, please don’t let the Reds get swept. All you have to do is hit one home run, then pitch like you usually do. That’s all we need!
Lineup below the fold; yes, Willy Taveras is back in the leadoff spot and Chris Dickerson is batting ninth. No, I don’t know if I’ll be watching the game or the NBA draft. I can’t take much more of Wee Willy.
(Who am I kidding? I’ll be watching the game.)
Discuss all the excitement of Reds baseball right here!
Taveras CF
Hairston Jr. 3B
Phillips 2B
Votto 1B
Gomes DH
Hernandez C
Bruce RF
Janish SS
Dickerson LF
Cueto P

Wow. Dickerson ninth and Taveras first.
Looks like another Taveresty at the top of the line-up
Ooops. Probably should have said that line-up is a Traveresty.
Nix and Hannigan both on the bench, Dickerson hitting behind Janish and Taveras leading off.
It’s time for Reds baseball…..
At least they have guys playing in positons they are a little used to tonight.
Question is, will Gomes have any playing time once we leave interleague play?
Sooo, is the King of Pop actually dead?
I see Cincinnati has a new shortstop that just joined the club…
Sooo, is the King of Pop actually dead?
That’s what TMZ is reporting. Linked from Yahoo.
Ok, Micheal Jackson is dead. Wow.
Taveresty, I like it.
Willy first and Dickerson ninth is one thing, and one thing only: Dusty Baker sticking his finger in the eyes of Reds fan. Its a deliberate attempt to show who is boss, and that he is smarter than all of us.
Prediction: Dickerson will get on base twice, and Taveras will strand him both times.
“Its a deliberate attempt to show who is boss, and that he is smarter than all of us.”
Exactly.
Farrah Fawcett is dead, too.
Willy Taveras is alive though his bat is likely still dead.
I refuse to think Dusty is that petty to stick it in Reds fans guts…I just think he is not a very wise manager!
They had a big article on MLB.com today talking about how Dusty is super optimistic and knows the Reds didn’t make a mistake on Taveras. Dusty knows he’s gonna come out of it…come out of it “bigtime”
Go over to CNNSI.com, and they have an article on the worst free agent signings…The writer says it comes down to Edgar Renteria and Willy Taveras. He concludes Taveras is the worst because even at Taveras’ best, he is not that good. He also concludes much of the Reds losses could possibly be tied to Taveras never getting on base.
Willy with a two bagger that he threw his bat at. Is that what Dusty taught him?
MASS HYSTERIA, DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER!
By the way, does it sound like George is saying “Now here’s your Poor (Ford) defensive alignment”? I mean, sure it works usually, but it’s still humorous.
Celebrities really do die in 3’s, Ed McMahon passed on Monday.
Words in that Michael Jackson may not be dead but in a coma. Probably been watching the Reds play.
Joey Votto!!!!!
Votto-Matic!!
Sho is good to have him back!!
Y-City Jim
Words in that Michael Jackson may not be dead but in a coma. Probably been watching the Reds play.
Or batting leadoff.
Guess CNN says he is dead after all.
Jonny!!!!!
Way to be, JGomes!!
Very happy for Willy and his double. You get on base, you score. Good stuff.
And I just don’t get how the ball hits the top of the wall and bounces backward!
Too bad Gomes wasn’t good enough to make the team out of ST… (Rolling Eyes)
How many here had a Farrah Fawcett poster when they were a kid?
Is this the same team as last night…the last month?
Yea Jay!
The Reds are up 4-0 against a lefty!! Who the hell are these guys?
Im only 30 years old, but my father had the poster on the wall in his garage.
You had to know that something like this would happen sooner or later.
I’m sure it is because Willy is such a catalyst.
And Jay Bruce just went the other way on a lefty. I’m in shock right now.
And of course theirs hits the top of the wall and goes over. :tired:
4 2-out RBIs a good sign.
FF poster? Check.
Yep, it’s the same team :poke:
Cueto with a lead. Didn’t we see this recently? Didn’t work out well then either.
I do think Dusty put the best team on the field..except for having Taveras on and leaving Hanigan on the bench…that is complete crap my friend
Where would the Reds be without Votto…he’s so clutch!
Votto-Matic!
y-city…how many bought PB magazine about 10 years ago when she was in that?
Viva la Votto!!!!!
I didn’t buy it but I did read the articles.
“Willy first and Dickerson ninth is one thing, and one thing only: Dusty Baker sticking his finger in the eyes of Reds fan. Its a deliberate attempt to show who is boss, and that he is smarter than all of us.”
Yeah, dats right! :emotion: :poke: :-((
Willy with job insurance there…sure to be in line up next 25 games straight for doing that!
Chris Heisey back to hammering the ball at 2-2 tonight…would like to see someone like him in CF leading off rather than the Traverasty
Who’s that guy with a base hit?
Anyone just hear Welsh’s lecture about it’s not “that much of a step back” from Gonzo with Janish out there. I’d prefer Janish’s glove out there over Gonzo EVERY DAY.
Tonights GG-CW “Gonzo is Amazing” piece is brought to you by: Safe Auto. JustIN Case. Ugh Ugh.
A COW JUST FLEW BY MY WINDOW
Is the sky falling yet???
Brublejr, quick! Head for cover!
Come on Team Phillips…time for a big knock
Anyone just hear Welsh’s lecture about it’s not “that much of a step back” from Gonzo with Janish out there.
What respect I had for Welsh is now gone.
I’m telling you Jim…it’s a conspiracy! The Front Office is telling these guys they have to slobber all over him to justify why he plays! They are going for a reputation that was about 5 years ago…
Y-City Jim,
I’m glad i’m not the only one who’s grown tired of Gonzo slumping over half-assed trying to go for a ball in the hole. He gets off his heels at the speed of a tortoise.
Yeah, these guys don’t understand….just because you dive for a ball, doesn’t make it a great play. Gonzo dives for balls that good SS get to easily.
Janish gets some praise.
Janish rocks.
“Boy, you can sure tell the difference when someone knows how to play the SS position. That was a big league play.” – Brantley
Of course Chris Welsh, Janish is no Alex Gonzalez.
and Janish got to it easily.
How good is Janish in the field?
“Of course Chris Welsh, Janish is no Alex Gonzalez.”
:poke: :-(( :emotion: :tired:
How good is Janish in the field?
We don’t know. We haven’t seen him dive for a ball yet.
and he hasn’t hardly played since Dusty refuses to put him in much
Please Cueto!!
wheels falling off
Why does he keep letting the ball up?
dam it!
Suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
you gotta laugh, ugh.
I got home just in time to see Cueto give up the lead. Crap.
Excellent Homer impression by Chris.
strike? terrible call
George Grande annoys me a lot less than he bothers most of you. But the “get ‘em, get’em over, get ‘em in” in ANY game situation does grate my nerves.
First inning – Taveras leadoff double. Grande says Harriston’s job is to get ‘em over to 3rd. WTF?
George Grande is awesome, except that he contributes to my drinking problem.
Cueto is killing us right now. Your ace can’t give up five run leads in back-to-back starts (especially when your team is struggling).
#78
ha!
You’re right, Annapolis, especially from the guy who has been the best pitcher on the staff this year. It’s very frustrating.
VOTTO!!
VOTTOMATIC!
This team is squat without Votto
He is ridiculous
Understatement of the Year:
That Votto kid is pretty special.
3 consecutive games for Cueto allowing 5 runs (though the first none of the 5 were earned.)
Is he taking himself out of the allstar game?
I like this #19. What’s his name?
Gee, sure am glad Hernandez is on instead of Hanigan :poke:
And then there is Ramon Hernandez, geez.
Wow. That Joey Votto. Sooooooooo special.
Cueto’s ERA has practically doubled in his last 3 outings…is he hurt too?
Who did Cincinnati select in the first round of the NBA draft tonight?
I’m thinking Dusty should have let Cueto in for this inning…he was lights out last inning and Masset has been struggling last few times…oh well
The Reds are worth watching just b/c of Votto…and Gomes, Hanigan when he’s in the line up
Gee, the bench warmer is 2-4
Man, two hits out of 4 PA. Janish sure sucks.
Maybe George knows more than I do, but I don’t think Taveras is the best bunter on this team by a long shot.
But he got the job done this time. Nice job, WT. 7-5, Reds.
I wish Taveras would do this more than once a month.
I think Johnny Cueto is just returning a bit to average. These last couple of starts was par for the course last year. Last season he would look dominant for a couple of innings and then would unravel for an inning, that happened more times than not. Hopefully he will get back to what he did the first dozen starts.
So Masset was lights out, and Dusty brings in Stormy who has an ERA at about 4.55 at this stadium?
Willie T. was definitely due for a good game. He made a couple of nice catches in center. Dusty still needs to flip him down to 8th or 9th in the lineup.
AAA Lousville winning 6-0 in the 8th inning
Lecure 6 shutout innings, 5h, 3bb, 7k
Stubbs 1-4, bb, 26th SB, R
Edwin 1-2, 2b, 2bb, R, rbi
Dorn batting 8th for some reason, 2-4, 10th HR
He crushed that!
Thank God
Heisey 2-3 with a walk tonight so far
Only saw the last two innings. Good win against a good team. Now on to Cleveland. Hopefully they are in the midst of a Shaq hangover. We could use a sweep right now (us sweeping them, for a change).
Good win tonight. Good to see Massett bounce back with a good outing. Dusty did a good job wiht the bullpen tonight. Don’t understand the complaining about that. There are plenty of legit things to complain about.
1) Getting on Cueto at this point is ridiculous
2) Chad’s response to Michael Jackson dying: “Willy first and Dickerson ninth is one thing, and one thing only: Dusty Baker sticking his finger in the eyes of Reds fan. Its a deliberate attempt to show who is boss, and that he is smarter than all of us.”
Thank you Chad, I couldn’t have said it better!
3)Chris…..I can tell by your posts that you are an intelligent individual but lighten up for f-ing, f, f-ing sakes!. I share your grief, but this team should actually give you hope that you’re not peeing in the wind as a hopeless Reds fan.
