Seems like they are signing a lot of high school kids. Are they going to spend the money to get them to balk at their college commitments?

    Some notes:
The Natinals drafted & already signed Brownsburg IN native Drew Storen with the 10th overall pick in the 1st round yesterday. Storen is Stanford’s closer & has gotten a lot of press here (Indianapolis) this week because of he was projected to be a 1st round pick & he is the son of Mark Patrick (a former local sportscaster and of MPOS nationaly syndication fame.) Storen & family are supposedly in Washington today, where they will take in the Reds/Natinals game from te owner’s suite.

Reds drafted Brownsburg HS catcher Tucker Barnhart. From the Indianapolis Stare “He is the 2008 All-West Player of the Year and a strong candidate for that honor in 2009. The scouting consensus was that Barnhart had high-round talent, but likely would fall in the draft in part because (Georgia Tech) Yellow Jackets recruits are notoriously difficult to sign.”

    Reds drafted High Schoolers 16-19 & 21.

Reds drafted Chris Valaika’s brother, Matt Valaika 2B UC Santa Barbara with the 20th pick.

Doug has truly done yeoman’s work! I’ve greatly enjoyed following 27 rounds of drafting while pretending to work here at my desk. Thanks, Doug!

Oh, and by the way, it did not strike me as an overly high-school-heavy draft at all. I think there were plenty of college players mixed in — maybe even half or more?
