Looks like the guys who are more highly touted prospects got off to the slow starts and then picked it up in May. I hope this isn’t a career trend for them or there could be some bleak April’s in the Reds’ future.
It’s good to see that Mesoraco has been batting better as of late, I think he could be a productive major leaguer for the Reds at some point, but he certainly is not going to rise through the system like Bruce, Bailey, or Alonso.
Hopefully, the Reds will give Drew Stubbs an opportunity at some point. Obviously, he is not going to bring the power like we thought he would when he was drafted out of Texas. But it seems that the Red’s new philosophy is geared towards his tools (speed, contact, and stellar defense)
Should be interesting to see how Alonso progresses in Carolina (which is in a league that is more “batter friendly” than the league Sarasota is in), especially if Votto is out for a significant amount of time.
