Another romp about the ‘net….
–Brandon Phillips hopes to be back on Friday.
–It’s the tenth anniversary for a Redleg Nation favorite, Uni Watch. Next spring, RN will celebrate our fifth anniversary. Ten years seems like an eternity.
–Another RN favorite is Joe Posnanski, who has a book coming out this fall about the Big Red Machine (I’ve already pre-ordered my copy). Well, at his blog today, he has an “Extra” from the book, involving former Red Will McEnaney.
–Go vote for Joey Votto for the All-Star Game!

Speaking of Uni-Watch, did you see that the Reds are going to wear the 60s throwback uniform that everybody here seems to love on June 20th for the Civil Rights Game. It is in honor of Frank Robinson who will be honored at the game.
Not just Votto, but you can make a strong case for Cueto and Cordero. W/o looking around the league, I gotta think Phillips and Hernandez are dark horses. They could get added if someone gets injured. All I know is we better get more than one this year.
Once again, I will express my amazement that we got Hernandez for Ryan Freel’s corpse.
That Rossvelt sure was a good President.
That’s seriously embarrassing.
We shall forrever reefer too that bassball team as teh Natinals.
Great news on Phillips. Hope he is not rushing it, but the article suggests they are taking that into account.
And I was one of the ones down on the Hernandez trade, but boy he has proved me wrong thus far. Hannigan has played well, and I love his defense, but Hernandez has been much better than I expected and went above and beyond covering first and third with all the injuries. Maybe not an All Star, but a heck of a valuable player.
VOTTO FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Joe Posnanski mentions Harvey Haddix in his Will McEnaney comments. There is actually a celebration program in Springfield this Saturday celebrating the 50 year anniversary of Haddix’s 12 inning perfect game.
I’m going to say something that is inherently unpopular.
The Natinals should never have left Montreal.
At least the Expos were barely competent. The Natinals can’t even claim a modicum of competency.
The nicest thing I can say about the Nats is this.
” “
Cueto could get picked for the all-start team but right now the field is crowded in the NL
Santana, Haren, and Lincecum are probably sure things and have all pitched as good or better than Cueto
Then you have Jurrjens, J Johnson, Cain, Wandy, Billingsly, Wainwright and Gallardo
that could iron itself out in the next 2-3 starts
I don’t think Cordero has a chance unless one of these guys implodes
Bell, Broxton, Rodriguez, and Hoffman
now what I would really like to see in a HR derby with all the actual big HR hitters taking part. Imagine if the NL was represented by Dunn, Pujols, Fielder, Howard, Braun, Soriano and Berkman. That would be a fun HR derby.
WOW – Fay has tonight’s lineup on his blog – Baker is batting 3 LH batters in a row with Nix batting cleanup:
Willy Taveras
Jerry Hairston Jr.
Joey Votto
Laynce Nix
Jay Bruce
Alex Gonzalez
Adam Rosales
Ryan Hanigan
Bronson Arroyo
There are times when a Reds manager makes a stupid decision, or a defender commits an error on an easily-played ball, and I think, “it couldn’t be any worse than this.” Then the Nationals take it on themselves to prove me wrong.
