Spotlight Player Update: 7-day DL

Just to keep those interested abreast of the situation, I was placed on the 7-day DL after having to exit the game on Monday, 5/11, with discomfort in my throwing shoulder.  From how it feels only three days after, and with the rainout last night, I am definitely hoping on only having to miss a single start.

Hope it feels better. 7 Day DL, I kinda like that concept.

Was the injury just arm fatigue or something else? Nonetheless, here’s hoping that you’ll be back on the mound shortly.

“I’m no doctor”…but my shoulder strenth was tested to be good, so fatigue not really an issue. I was throwing my slider (which is a newer pitch for me) at a different arm slot than my other pitches, thus providing an opportunity for some possible inflammation to set in…”but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.”

Hey Matt… good to hear from you again… Meant to say before, thanks for taking the time to keep us — just a bunch of dorks on a baseball blog — informed on what’s up! Much appreciated.

Hope things are going well for you.

As an aside… if you get a chance, Matt… I’d love to hear a little bit more about stuff other than the games. I’ve always wondered what the whole “minor league baseball player in a small town they don’t know anything about, and travelling half the time” lifestyle is like! I think some of us really glorify it – heck, I bet a lot of us grew up hoping we’d be there one day (until we figured out we had no talent!) – but I’m guessing it’s full of a lot of stuff we never really consider.

    Uh… family blog, of course… so I guess give us the PG-13 version… ;)

Anyway, if you get time, I’d be really interested in just a down-to-earth “day in the life” sort of thing.

  • Matt and the crazy life of minor league living that you don’t see in Bull Durham. Well Matt, any comment? I know he just packed up his tuck for his move to Carolina. Women could be another topic at hand. And on that topic… You know…. I belief he is still single for my wedding 1-2-10 (in Cincinnati) and he is the best man! HA HA HA! I wonder if any girls pay attention to this?
