all this talk of cueto being on the bubble for the 5th spot are ridiculous, he’s in, and hal mccoy should know better than to start rumors like that.

the guy put up a near league average era in 174 major league innings, he probably has better stuff than anyone on the staff, he was 22, and he hasn’t given up a run in a reds st game, or the wbc.

so what’s the question? homer bailey is reportedly throwing 91-92 and has done pretty well in the first week of spring training (before any cuts), after years of getting rocked at the big league level. how does that put him in the running with cueto?

last year in the spring, everyone thought cueto was going to be the one, not volquez. volquex put it together quicker because he had more experience, but i still think cueto may have more potential.

that’s not to say that i’m not excited by homer bailey’s success. i hope he can become a major leaguer someday. but that’s a lot different from my excitement about cueto, who already is a major leaguer, and has the potential to be a great one.

I am liking the WBC more and more. I just don’t like the pitcher concerns, but as far as games go, it has been fun to watch. The only two players of the Reds that are playing that concern me is Volquez and Cueto. I’d like Ramon to get back early as well to work with the staff, but of course half of the staff pitches for the DR.

Dunn thinks he deserves some web gems. Glad to hear him say he’s “trying to drop that (bad fielding) label.” For all the talk of his bad attitude, I’ve never actually heard him say anything that suggests a poor attitude. I’ll be rooting for Dunn all season…and wishing the Reds still had him.
