Wow, the HAVOC starting rotation merits a T-shirt being made of of it. That is awesome!

RC that is a brilliant catch. What I can't figure out is whether that is a good omen, or a bad one.

Nice catch, RC Redleg. Maybe we should see what our starting eight would spell in order to set our lineup. That way you know E5 would start, 'cause you can't spell much without an 'E' somewhere.

I think Mark hit it on the head with his comment above. Management needs to show value for the Dunn trade, so Owings will have the chance to prove it out of the gate. But to me, that's fine. I think he's going to have an outstanding year. And I sure like the idea of using his bat from time to time on off days. Also to add to the mix, he can play first base. Maybe having him on the bench as a possibility of double switching late might add the depth we need to stay away from the three catcher monstrosity.

I think Owings has the inside track for few reasons.
1. His positive track record in the big leagues and his experience probably makes him suited to that role of 5th sarter who is the one that gets juggled alot. 2. I like the extra pinch hitter 4 out of 5 games. 3. He was main piece in the trade of a popular Adama Dunn. GMs always give their acquisitions an edge, which makes them (GM) look better.

However, I think Homer would benefit and flourish from starting out in the bullpen. Come in and throw 95 for one, two or three innings a couple of times a week would be a great asset to the team and allow him to get himself established at the same time.

The fly in the oinment could be Masset out of options.

My preference early in the season would be Owings. This guy has a track record, and the last thing we need is the inconsistent enigma that Bailey has been so far. Just making the team would be reward enough for Bailey. Middle relief would suit him just fine for the first month, and if he's lights out, you slide him in. It would still put him in line to make 20 starts, which is about right for a guy his age.
