The Reds thumped the defending American League champs today. Clearly, this means that the 2009 Reds are one of the top two teams in the major leagues. I mean, it’s the only logical conclusion to draw.
Edinson Volquez looked good, Johnny Cueto was sharp, and Jerry Hairston hit a grand slam to lead the offensive charge in a 7-0 win. Homer Bailey also pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two.
Good start, huh?

It was nice hearing baseball today…even if it doesn’t matter whatsoever.
I can’t wait for the season to start!
PLAY BALL!
It’s better than losing 7-0.
Nice game to build on.
Cueto looked really good and was efficient in minimizing his pitches
Hey, how about Homer! It sounded good on the radio.
It doesn’t mean much but it’s still a good start. I’d rather have that than a reverse blowout. Can’t wait for April.
It beats a stick in the eye
