You gotta love the Stowes. I can’t ever remember listening to a Marty broadcast where he doesn’t mention the Stowes.

And the first spring training game is underway.

I know it’s only the first game of spring training, but I can’t wait until game threads. Sorry to clutter up the Stowe thread with this, but I’ve officially got the fever now.

… and Cueto’s pitching is encouraging too. Okay, I promise no more posting off topic.

Volquez, Cueto, Bailey. 2 hits, 0 runs, 8 strike outs in 7 innings. Not a bad start.

You gotta appreciate the Stowe familys’ dedication to the team!
What a dream job that has got to be!

    1-0 woooohooooo!

Homer Bailey was probably the most impressive pitcher of the day. He threw just 7 pitches, striking out 2 batters and inducing a groundout to the third hitter in the 7th.
Most of the Reds offense came in the 5th inning as the speedsters showed what they can do. Three straight singles off of Randy Choate loaded the bases for Jerry Hairston Jr. Hairston launched one over the left-field fence for a grand slam and the Reds were up 4-0.

    Nice, very nice!

It would be a fun job to have for about a month, but I am not sure it would be a dream job.

It probably pays well but since part of the pay is tips, especially on the visitor’s side that probably can be very inconsistent. Working every night, half the summer until at least 1:00 a.m., back in early the next day, cleaning up what they call an area that looks like a bomb went off every night, coddling a bunch of adult primadonas every day. I think it would really wear a person out.

Boy Griffey has a really small head!

I think the biggest thing about todays game was the pitchers threw strikes. After Volquez, as Lou Brown said in Major League II, they were doing it” against guys who will be bagging groceries in two weeks.”

Bernie is a great human being. A Prince. You can see he’s slowing down as he doesn’t say too much any more but sorta keeps busy and lets the kids do their job. He is old school as Joe was and Marty is. Spending hanging around with those guys and just shooting the breeze is a great time. When I travel with the Rojos or they come into New York/Philly/DC, there’s always a good time.

Bernie & Co. do work their butts off- especially in spring training. Get in at 6:30 a.m. and leave at about 11:30 p.m. No time for the Cheetah or the Dacquiri Deck for those guys.

    Well, maybe the Cheetah.
