In this episode of Redleg Nation Radio, we discuss recent free agent signings, and how they impact the Reds. We also discuss the re-signing of Jerry Hairston, Jr., and what it means for the 2009 Reds.

Marty and his minions, lol, love it. Its bothersome that people take what he says as if its absolute fact.
Marty describing the game of baseball he is watching = Fantastic
Marty telling me what he thinks about players and the game = Mind numbing most of the time
Precisely how I feel. Only Vin Scully ranks up there with Marty, in my opinion, in describing the action on the field.
It’s the other nonsense I can’t deal with.
He’s just become such a bitter old man…
Speaking of Marty, I was listening to one of the hot stove chats on mlb.com and a caller asked if the Reds would consider signing Bobby Abreu. Marty snidely commented on how Abreu was a left-handed hitter and the Reds had too many already. Too many? IF they signed Abreu to play left, they’d have 3; Votto, Bruce, and Abreu. I was really surprised at the off-hand and arrogant way he dismissed the question.
Marty was having an Adam Dunn flashback.
Oh, I looked it up; Abreu has 65 career sacrifice flies…but only one last year.
I think the Reds need to include a “You’re paid to describe the Reds baseball games not express your opinions on them.” clause in Marty’s contract. Much like he claims that they included a “You’re paid to drive in runs not take a walk.” clause in Adam Dunn’s contract.
