Don't believe anyone has irrational hatred of Dunn. What is hated is the irrational love that goes the other way.

Haha wow! Such unsubstantiated and irrational hatred towards Dunn still!!!!

I'm just glad you proved your subjectivity by saying you didn't care about bullcrap numbers. Well that's good to know that your opinion is less grounded in fact and more based on your feelings.

As for the main question here: The Reds do have a bright future. However I need to see how our pitchers continue to develop first. Bruce is going to be an all star, Votto is an above average major leaguer. We don't have *too* many top prospects ready to make the jump so we need to do something in the free agent or trade markets.

Jocketty has a better idea of this than any of us, but with the exception of a few high priced stars, there's no real FA's to make an offer to this year.

I'm also not sure what valuable trade assets we might have either... so I'm not sure how well off we are. I think last year at this time we might have been a little bit better off.

hmm now that I look again, I guess this is the Griffey thread... oh well, I feel for him, I grew up liking him. I know he might go back to the Mariners, though I think it depends on who they decide to make their GM.

He'll find a team somewhere I hope. It's disappointing that he might never win a WS though.

I think it's almost a lock that Griffey will go to Seattle eventually. He loves it and they love him (now). I don't see why it wouldn't be now.

I'm glad to hear that Jr. says he'll play in 2009. Seattle would make sense in that it might be his last year. I think he could have one or two more productive seasons as a DH and part time corner outfielder.

Mark in CC -- Nice to know somebody agrees with my opinion...which of course is right!
I certainly enjoyed watching the Reds play more after the "the big guns" ....er..."water pistols", were gone.

Griffey's poor showing still had him post a 101 OPS+ this season. He could still be productive for a couple more years if healthy. He just better be ready for less than impressive salary offers.

Blah, blah, blah…Dunn. Blah, blah, blah..Dunn. Who gives a crap anymore. He didn’t help us win…and the D-backs didn’t get in the playoffs with the addition of his “big bat”.
And I don’t wanna see any bullcrap numbers run out here…he was a slacker, he did not hustle, he sucked at defense, and I’m glad he’s gone!!

Babe Ruth couldn't have helped this team win. The 2005 Reds were one of the best offense in team history but the pitching was so pathetic that the team still couldn't hit .500.

Babe Ruth couldn't have helped the Diamondbacks' offense either. A corpse batting behind Dunn would have been more effective than Reynolds.

So we should dump Harang and Arroyo, too? Harang was here nearly as long as Dunn.

Whether it is fair, or whether they were better is a matter of conjecture but I do know they were more enjoyable and entertaining to watch after the two big guns were traded away.

Even after he's gone, the subject Dunn always seems to dominate the conversation. He's gone and he's not coming back to Cincy. Now its all just needless controversy.
