Most of the problem lies in lack of good coaching of young players. Get use to it, won't be much better next year. I'm thinking 4-6 games below .500 next year. We're stuck with Crusty and the crew until the 2010 season. I'm in hopes of Rick Sweet coming up and maybe Chris Bosio as pitching coach, not sure who for hitting coach. Barry Larkin?

“Entire Reds coaching staff staying for 2009″ See Mlb.com for the sad news.

Is that not insane? Regardless of the level of talent this team lacks an ability to execute the fundamentals, they have pathetic plate discipline, run the bases like our kids did when they played t-ball, etc.

Actually why in the world didn't he leave Bray in for the whole ninth?! He brought the guy with the 2.7 ERA in to face one batter and then put in the guy with the 4.7 ERA to face the middle of the order...

Albert 3 for 4 against Lincoln and what does Dusty do with a tie game when Albert P. is 3 for 3? Must be a hunch I guess?

Valentin pinch hit homerun. I don't think there's room for him next year, but I'm gonna miss all of these big pinch-hit showings...

and I just said yesterday, "why did Dusty leave LLM on the bench all year?" Another good clutch pinch hit by Valenten. I hope he gets a job with someone who'll appreciate him next year.

If Votto can have a big series this final weekend, he might make a serious case for himself for Rookie of the Year. He and Soto are now about dead even in HRs, runs, and RBIs. Votto has almost a ten jump advantage in BA.

Pooperson with the standard 0 for 3. Anyone taking bets that he'll play in the last game of season?

The Twins are getting killed too, though, so we'll see. Bummer though that it looks like neither Junior nor Dunn will get their chance in October like they both wanted. More of a bummer for Junior, since it might be his last chance...

Speaking of Junior, I don't think the White Sox want to win. They are getting killed tonight after blowing a big lead last night.

Ooh. I guess it's because I quit following the Reds for several years and started up again with opening day in 2006 and stopped being a cool artsy teenager who was too smart for spotted. Probably everyone else got the reference. ;-)

Chad, what was the Joe Randa-related moment with Braden Looper? I read the post you linked and didn’t see anything.

Sorry, it was the Opening Day game when Randa, in his first game as a Red hit a homer in extra innings to win the game. Dunn and Junior had homers in that game (Dunn may have had two, can't remember), and Dunn hit the homer to tie it in the bottom of the ninth. Amazing game, lots of fun.
