Okay, I didn’t watch the game live last night, but I did Tivo it, and watched a few innings. Really strange to see Adam Dunn hitting against Aaron Harang. I can say I did enjoy seeing my favorite Red, Edwin Encarnacion, and Jay Bruce and Joey Votto again. It’s been a while. I still have very little hope that the Reds will even be halfway decent in 2009, but it’s always fun to see Encarnacion, Bruce, and Votto.
The rest of the lineup was really terrible, though.
Tonight, Edinson Volquez goes for win number 17. Seems like he’s tried to get his seventeenth win about ten times. Hopefully, he will get it tonight.
I’ll have to flip back and forth between the UVa football game and the Reds baseball game. Good grief, I’m a glutton for punishment.
Well, I guess I’ll be first…38 pitches through 2ip but at least we’ve got a better line up tonight. Too bad Crusty can’t figure out that it’s not all about lefty vs. righty and righty vs. lefty
Randy Johnson over 60 pitches and the 3rd is not over…wonder if Dusty has picked up on how this pitch count is the usual in the 6th inning for a Reds opposing pitcher with the other line up?
Is anybody out there?
You may miss Roenokie’s MLB debut!
I just got home. See I haven’t missed much.
Just Dusty leaving Volquez in in an attempt to get 20 wins…gives up lead off double of course. He’s tired, glad to see your concerned about individuals Dusty but what about the team as a whole? Idiot
A little too late Dusty, thanks for giving Volquez a chance, too bad now you’ll see a loss.
Bleh.
Anyone else notice that MLB put the fix in? Astros and Cubs series has been moved to a ‘neutral’ stadium….Miller Park. Yea might as well have had it in Wrigley.
Yeah I wondered why they didn’t have it at Wrigley?
Dusty and the pitching coach are napping again. They really should be fired tomorrow morning!
Pitching making his major league debut, throw his first 7 pitches for balls (and none are even close) and hits a batter bringing in the go-ahead run and there is NO SIGN OF THE PITCHING COACH????
yep, just throw him in the fire! I can hear Dusty now, “that’s how it was back in my day kid!” I hope he chokes on a toothpick…did I say that?
nice grammar on my last comment. Typos really.
Because of a comment one of the Reds TV announcers just made about Washington and Rauch I realized that the Jr-Reds (Washington) might actually try something this off season.
Think the Nationals will go after Dunn???
Kudos Dusty, you’re having Dickerson pinch hit for Cabrera…not bad and makes at least some sense.
Kudos Dusty, you’re having Dickerson pinch hit for Cabrera…not bad and makes at least some sense.
when you are happy for a move like this, you know your manager is an idiot
Well, I was trying to be positive and of course it didn’t work…Washington going after Dunn would make perfect sense given their history but the Snakes have a similar line up…few contact hitters and ones with low averages and a lot of HR’s.
Herrera kind of hung that one.
Okay, I’ll say it:
WHY THE HECK IS PATTERSON IN WHEN WE’RE DOWN 1 RUN!!!!
because of his defense!! so the Reds don’t get any further behind! That way they only lose by one run and not two…Dusty logic! Plus he probably promised Patterson he could play or something.
A fan in Durham was calling Herrera a midgit (spelling?) during the AAA play off series…I’d say he’s pretty good for 5′7″
Is Miller Park the official neutral park of MLB? I remember the Indians having to play some games there.
I didn’t even notice he came in, did he take over for Jerry?
Patterson has to play….I mean let’s face it, he’s the face of the team!
I swear to god they can NOT let Corey get up to bat and swing. If he bats(he will) he better be laying down a bunt and nothing more.
Too bad Richar didn’t start…instead the .071 Rosales started. I remember Dusty saying how “impressed” he was by him in spring training.
Think the Nationals will go after Dunn???
They do need a 1B. Young is obsessively eating and Johnson is obsessively injured.
He came in for Bruce… Admittedly bruce wouldn’t come up for a while, but I’d rather see the pitcher bat than Corey
Oh yes they will! Crappy will spoil any rally! But at least Dumpy is true to his word…after all he’s a “Players Manager” or is that a “Playas Manager”
Just as planned…a chance for his lover to become a hero!
Thank you Montero.
And a hero he is…by accident!
Valentin is PH for Hanigan (2 for 3) for what reason? I guess it worked though.
Crappy with the RBI out. That’s up his alley since he is so proficient in making outs.
Dusty uses the .471 hitting Castillo as a pinch runner and the .200 hitting Patterson to hit? Can someone please figure this out?
Weathers warming up…so I guess it doesn’t matter either way.
And a hero he is…by accident!
gotta love the Reds. They are the Bad New Bears and Ball Four combined. AND THEY ALSO SUCK
Dusty uses the .471 hitting Castillo as a pinch runner and the .200 hitting Patterson to hit? Can someone please figure this out?
easy math.
Castillo is fast, but has no experience, and experience to the dumb-old-guy trumps speed. Even if Patterson is just as fast. Neither matters but remember this is Dusty-math
Patterson is a veteran. A PROVEN VETERAN. THAT TRUMPS BEING ABLE TO PLAY AT THE MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL. Plus Dusty gets to be on top tonight if Patterson wins the game
I think Dunn went over between innings and wiped the drool off the sleeping Dusty’s cheek
Did Dunn really take his gum out and put it on Valentine’s batting helmet when he was at 1B???
I didn’t see but I do want to see Herrera stand in the middle of Randy Johnson and Rauch 6′11″ and 6′10″ vs 5′7″
Hurricane Weathers!
Dunn is on the front of ESPN’s mlb page
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index
Randy Johnson was born in 1963 and could be Jay Bruce’s grandfather!

can you believe Arizona has 22(!!) players on their roster 6-2 or taller and 10 of them are 6-4 or taller!
Randy Johnson was born in 1963 and could be Jay Bruce’s grandfather!
and he shut down the AAAA Reds tonight
I long for the day when the head line reads…”Cincinnati Dunn with Dusty Baker”
Arizona putting on a demonstration as to why little ball seldom works.
We found out new LFer. So long, Crappy P.
Hmm…interesting roster comparison
The Reds average age on their roster is OLDER than Arizona
The Reds also have an older roster than 4 teams in the playoff race. Minnesota, TB, Arizona and LAA.
I wonder if Reds management can spell the word rebuild?
did that just really happen.
Patterson definitely should be released now. We have a pitcher that is a WAY better hitter than he is.
Selig is going to have a talk with Milwaukee fans, and make sure they’re appropriately pro-Astros. Of course, NO Cub fans would make it up there.
Bako and Cabrerra would jack the age up a bit.
The Reds also have an older roster than 4 teams in the playoff race. Minnesota, TB, Arizona and LAA.
But our older guys are worse then their younger guys. So it’s rebuilding!
mike, we probably have at least TWO pitchers who are better hitters than Crappy.
mike, we probably have at least TWO pitchers who are better hitters than Crappy.
Arroyo?
Yep
Bailey isn’t a bad hitter either
Weathers is also old.
But it’s also true that our young guys aren’t that young, other than Bruce. All these guys we just called up? They should be in the prime of their careers, not getting their first cup of coffey.
Bruce isn’t just young he’s VERY young.
Only 3 players in the majors this season are younger. Kershaw, Upton (AZ), and Gillaspie.
About 5-6 other players are roughly the same age.
That’s YOUNG
This is Young.
I always liked Dmitri
