Sorry. Got into the Paisano vino last night and took out my frustrations on you. I’m only a Reds fan because I am connected with the intercircle of MLB through work, friendships, fantasy camps, that kind of thing. I’m actually a Phillies fan from birth and that’s a whole lot of failure right there.

But excusez-moi for my angst last evening.

I was laying in bed halfway asleep and I thought I was dreaming when Baker pinch hit Hairston for Castillo. Castillo was 6-7 over the last two days and Hairston hadn’t played for a month. Baker truly is whacko.

This is a quote from Dusty Baker after tonights game when asked about when he is going to play some young guys:

“I’ll use them in spots and try to get them a start if I can,” Baker said. “But for the integrity of the races and the team, you have to go with your best lineup.”

He says this, yet he started COREY FREAKING PATTERSON for the 100th plus time this season. Everytime he talks and I think about what he just said, I wish I could bash my skull in with a hammer.

Mhopp, I agree with your statement that the problem is Dusty not CP. CP is just doing what he’s told, and I think he consistently goes all out, you can see that in his play in CF (in fact he is a good CF) and his overaggressive (dumb) baserunning. If anything he tries too hard, he lost his confidence somewhere along the way. It’s Dusty job to help the Reds, not Corey, he seems confused about that.

you know what, this is absolutly 100% correct. Sure I run 6+ miles twice a week but I smoke and smoke to much weed to be a professional athlete. Plus I was a terrible hitter in high school, right around Patterson’s level. I can’t hold his jock.

That’s not the point.

The rumors that Dunn didn’t want to play 1B were apparently false.

Dunn said this in an interview after the trade and added that he “took groundballs at 1B EVERY DAY”

Imagine for a second we trade Jr and not Dunn and move him to 1B and Votto to RF. We move Phillips to SS and Keppinger to 2B Bruce to RF and Dickerson to CF. We get Phillips a long ways away fromt the 3rd or 4th spot in the lineup and we don’t carry 3 catchers and keep Ross.

we improve the defense and we have something like

Dickerson
Bruce
Dunn
Votto (I don’t give a rats ass about 3 lefties in a row)
EE
Phillips
Ross
some SS I don’t care who

Actually you must blame the manager more than Patterson…he’s getting a little older and not getting any better, he can’t help that. What can be helped is the STUPID MANAGER who put him at lead off. Corey Patterson can only do so much with what he’s been told. By the way, I’d rather see Bronson Arroyo lead off than Patterson. It’s just more of a testament to how Dusty Baker needs some Psychiatric help.

The Reds will take 2 of 3 from Cubs and same from the Brewers? Amazing what bringing up some youth will do. Too bad Ramirez doesn’t get the win…Great game…even with Crappy P. and Crusty B.

Wow, CP’s a hero and Coco closes it out. I notice that Coco doesn’t screw up against the Brewers. Let’s not lament CP being in the lineup for the rest of the season, let’s enjoy the win.

Corey Patterson watch: 0-3, .202 average so far tonight.

I don’t care much about batting average. (note: has any player ever hit under .225 and had a good season, I’ll look that up in a minute).

But most know how old the Reds are…over 100 years! And most know that getting on base for a leadoff hitter is important and that getting on base (or not getting OUT) is more important than a hit/avg. In over 100 years of Reds baseball here are the worst OBP vs league average for players with over 325 PA.
