I must say, I'm sort of disappointed that there hasn't been any recent posts from Maryland that unreasonably slam posters for reasonable comments. But I guess me posting this comment sort of makes me the cauldren ripping on the pot for calling the kettle black. Or possibly I'm throwing stones from a glass house into a crystal one. Either way.....

I was annoyed about tonite's starting lineup, like everyone else, and felt the only way we could win is with another miraculous 9th inning rally.
Not that I thought it would happen.
The Brew Crew might be getting tight again.

Bush with 99 pitches through 9 innings. Looks like a complete game for the man who started the night with a 4.33 ERA.

Lincoln throwing water the fire for a change. Volquez with a masterful 5.2 inning, 119-pitch outing.

Bush is off his game...it took 6 pitches to get Crappy out, rather than the usual 2-3 pitches

Did anyone take a look at the bench? Every single player has a BA above our lead off batter!!!! Does anyone doubt that Dusty Baker has a distorted sense of reality? I think Boob Castaloony and Walt Jerketty are just going with it for now as I read somewhere in the past that Dusty wants a lot of control in his position. I'd say at mid-season next year when they're at the same level they were in 2008, we'll see changes. I've seen some bad managers in Reds history but Baker just flat out defies reality...I like most people but I really hate Dusty Baker, I really hate him...I know it's not right but I really do!!!

For sure, Jim. It seems like we have enough guys with lines like his, although his OPS is higher than most of our lineup (Bruce, Phillips, EdE, Keppinger). It's not a problem to have guys like that in the lineup, but an entire lineup of them is not a playoff team. The holes we have need to be filled in the offseason by something more than hole-pluggers if we're actually going to contend in '09 (we're not going to contend in '09)...

The amazing lead-off hitter is 0-2, inching his way back down to sub .200.
