September begins, and tonight marks the start of what is sure to be a month-long titanic struggle between the Reds and the Pirates to avoid coming in last place in the NL Central. The Reds have the upper hand right now, but that can change in a heartbeat, so the Reds can’t afford to take these games for granted. Fortunately, we have Aaron Harang on the mound this evening.
The battle for fifth place starts tonight! Reds Fever: Catch It!!!
What’s the lineup?
Chris Dickerson lf
Jeff Keppinger ss
Brandon Phillips 2b
Joey Votto 1b
Edwin Encarnacion 3b
Jay Bruce rf
Ryan Hanigan c
Corety Patterson cf
Aaron Harang p
WTF? The catcher isn’t batting 8th?
It’s pretty surprising, ain’t it?
Remember everyone. Corey Patterson is not the sole reason for the Reds poor season.
So Dickerson fouls one down the line about 400 feet on an inside fastball…. so the Pirates pitcher throws him another. HR Dickerson.
Would Doumit be available this offseason?
K! Good start to the second.
Dickerson is still trying to make a good case for himself and so far it’s working for him.
That was a no-doubter by Moss. Not the guy to try to throw one by with two strikes.
UGH!!!
I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure Ryan Doumit will still be under Pirate control.
Bad Harang, stop that homerun stuff.
OK, Patterson got an RBI. He’s an awesome player and has truly shown that he is deserving of lots of playing time. Hail, Corey….
Wow, Harang in trouble again.
Thom and Jeff are not the ones to be talking hockey. I feel sorry for these Blue Jacket guys.
Anybody else hear the Cowboy talk about Ron Gardenhire and how we need a manager like him? Take note Bob.

Dusty will be giving the Cowboy the same sign that Griffey did.
I can understand Dickerson hitting well in his first month of MLB action but I really find the power surge really odd. He never came close to producing this kind of power at the MiLB level, and I don’t think it is Jacoby’s expert tutoring.
Keppinger is not having a good day today…3 pop ups. He should stop taking lessons from Patterson.
Dickerson looked like a fairy running back to first.
FDN, I thought the same thing. It is like he is just swinging to make contact.
Does it seem like Brantley is trying to model his broadcast style after “Dandy” Don Meredith? I wonder if “North Dallas Forty” is his favorite movie?
Speaking of rednecks, I just saw that Jerry Reed died of emphysema. How many packs a day did that guy smoke?
Non-Reds related but what does it say about our nation when its citizens are looking for nude pictures of a vice-presidential candidate.
Patterson saved a homerun. I told you he was awesome. Sign him to an extension right now.
Patterson up for that Fruit of the Loom “Feel for the Game” award. I sure would like one of those for my trophy case. Is it a bronzed pair of briefs?

Joe Biden? Ewwww.
Dunn could have made that play without even having to jump.
That really was a great catch by Patterson. He made it look pretty effortless.
Thom said: “Both pitchers are settling into a real groove now.” Or maybe the offenses blow chunks and the defense is saving some runs as well.
preach, I guess it is a good thing the Internet wasn’t available during the times of Hubert Humphrey and Spiro Agnew.
Another vice-president hadn’t invented it yet….
Another vice-president hadn’t invented it yet….
lol… How right you are!! Right before he invented global warming.
Alright, we have a rally going…and here comes Money Patterson….
There goes Money…..
I’ve had a good deal of fun with the “hot VP” idea. Many references to Dick Cheney.
These guys are drooling all over Chris Dickerson. I like the guy, and he should definitely be considered in the mix for an outfield spot next year, but I don’t think his .662 SLG is any more real than Keppinger’s .477 last year.
Now that was a HUGE mistake by Dickerson. And not a peep out of these guys.
The Reds base running virus had spread to Dickerson. There is no cure known to mankind.
Brantley a fan of Ultimate Fighting Championship. Big shocker there.
Brantley referring to Valentin as pinch hitter extraordinare. He has a .200 lifetime BA as a pinch hitter and .188 this year.
extraordinare
extraordinaire
I don’t think anyone can expect Dickerson to slug in the 600’s, but the dude is patient at the plate and isn’t afraid to clog up the bases with a walk.

I don’t know how many times I’ve thought the same thing when the announcers go ga-ga over LLM and his pinch hitting ‘prowess’. Granted, it’s not an easy role, but the mendoza line is hardly extroidenary (sp).
