Maloney had a bad spring training, followed by a bad April in AAA. He missed most of July with an injury. Started again August 8th with 2 good starts, but his last two starts have been bad.
Given all that, his overall numbers for the year aren’t bad, but I think he’s had some bad luck with respect to performance and injury when the big league club has needed to dip down into AAA to grab a starter.
I see the Reds offense is having trouble against a pitcher who has given up 11 runs in a game twice…this month. In their (and Backe’s) defense, he did go all July (5 starts) giving up only 11 runs.
Ramon Ramirez has gotten better as the season has gone on at AAA, he’s a good candidate to have pitch at the MLB level, ERA at about 3.1 so I’m satisfied with that. D. Thompson got beat up his last outing and is not ready. Unfortunately, as you can see pitching is not the real problem but SCORING RUNS is!!! Get that worthless lover of yours out of the line up!!! A hit tonight means he’ll surely be in there until the end of the season. U

Wow no Bako AND Adam Rosales gets a start!?
How come they have never given Maloney a shot? Is his stuff not that good or is he just not MLB ready?

Ramon Ramirez is getting the call to pitch in place of Johnn Cueto. I’ll be the first to admit I’ve heard the name but have no clue about him.

Man oh man Harang…
The sadder part is that he is still on pace for a quality start and it won’t matter because the team won’t score any runs.
Come on Corey now is your chance not to be hated……….for a day.
I admit it…I hate it when Corey Patterson gets a hit.

thru the end of July
Reds score 4.4 R/G allow 5.0 R/G
During August
Reds score 3.3 R/G and allow 5.0 R/G
Scoring runs has become more of a problem this month.
However, 5.0 allowed isn’t going to cut it either.
This month the Reds have scored three or less runs in almost two thirds of their games.
You would think they would be scoring more runs a game without Dunn not hitting well with RISP.
Maybe the Reds aren’t scoring as well because Adam Dunn isn’t here scoring runs.
Scoring runs. That’s a novel concept.
Yeah, they had such a great winning record when he was here.
