I wish I could argue with this.
Josh Fogg vs. Roy Oswalt? I don’t like the sound of that. Nossir, I don’t like it one bit. Of course, I’m going to go ahead and admit that I may not be watching. I may give my wife a reprieve from the Reds, since it is our anniversary and all.
Those of you who don’t have an excuse to miss the game can discuss it here.

Tonight’s line-up:
REDS
Jeff Keppinger ss
Joey Votto 1b
Jay Bruce rf
Brandon Phillips 2b
Adam Dunn lf
Edwin Encarnacion 3b
Corey Patterson cf
Paul Bako c
Josh Fogg p
What the hell is Corey Patterson starting for? I’m not going to be desensitized to it anymore. We should be in an uproar everytime.
Yet we keep going to the games and keep tuning in on the tv and radio. We should start refusing to go, watch or listen when he is in the game. But will we?
I got no problem with Corey Patterson starting.
Pow, how do you like that…bases loaded 3rd pitch strike out!! I’ll bet Roy Oswalt is relaxed knowing the losers he’s facing.
No worries, Corey Patterson, Paul Bako and the pitcher are hitting next innning!
Cabrera has been hitting. Keppinger has not and you know who never does. Terrible lineup.
who even cares anymore
happy anniversary
how many years?
Keppinger has become an automatic out, so Dusty likes him as the leadoff hitter.
Exactly pinson…Cabrera is hot hitting so he sits the bench. These poor decisions ruin a teams morale. Looks like it’ll be lose lose and lose until they fire Crusty Baker. Thanks for the “Big Name” Manager. What a fool!
My question is…”Has Dusty Baker ever had his contract renewed by a team while a manager?” And “Has Dusty Baker ever not been fired as a manager?”
Wow, I go away for a minute and Josh Fogg gave up 4 runs in an inning. I feel like I’m having DeJavu
Last week I predicted the Reds will finish two games above last year at 74-88. Looks like they are well on their way!
Something tells me I’m all alone here?!
I’m speechless these days.
Well, when the team is this atrocious, it shouldn’t be that big of a surprise that no one else is posting.

The Reds should be geniuses by now.
Is there something wrong with the usual Reds PA announcer? It sounds like a woman is doing the announcing.
And Patterson comes up with yet another sucky play.
What’s the latest on Harang and D. Thompson? I heard Burton was upset since his side was hurting. Good news is Drew Stubbs is batting .329 at AA. With any luck he’ll make the team next year as CF. Never mind with Dusty at the helm he’ll say his lover CP is still working on his swing.
We must consider that if things don’t change drastically next year that the owner and General Manager have no balls.
I saw the news story about the guy who called 911 to complain about his sandwich from Subway. Wonder if anyone has called 911 to complain about the Reds?
Harang would be starting here for his next start if it was up to him. He’ll probably make one more at Louisville then be back.
I swear that Burton would have had better luck going to a chiropractor.
Drew Stubbs just threw someone out at the plate at AA…when is the last time CP has done that?
Just read the story about the mailman who is campaigning for postal carriers to wear kilts. I think the Reds should wear kilts.
BTW, when was the last time Majewski threw a sinker that didn’t get hit almost 400 feet?
Ramon Ramirez is pitching a nice little game at Louisville tonight. 10 K’s through 6 innings.
Why is my post not showing up where I can see it?
Check out this article…It’s proof that things could be worse. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080807/ap_on_re_us/marijuana_packages
got it, check that out. Wonder if they are Reds fans?
I’m glad you guys are posting. Let’s look for positive things. Ramon Ramirez has been pitching very well lately. Drew Stubbs has been hitting better since his promotion, he’ll help the Reds in a big way if he can get on base enough. I read that Thompson is throwing (not pitching) again.
As for the Reds, they seem on the verge of total collapse. Can we dare hope that Castellini might swallow two years of Dusty’s contract ?
He might eat one and a half but not two years. Pete Mackanin, where art thou?
I couldn’t watch any more. I tuned into a Johnny Cash documentary on PBS.
Documentary was filmed in 1969. Everybody smoking cigarettes. Johnny driving a Dodge RV, which would have been affordable with gas less than 40 cents a gallon.
Jukich pitched a great game at AAA then got demoted to AA. My List: Ramirez better, Harang better, D. Thompson better, Volquez the same (or better if possible), Burton better, Danny Herrera (little guy) up in Majors, 2nd year for Cueto, Dorn hitting, Stubbs hitting, BP being himself, Votto in 2nd full year, Bruce in 2nd full year, Cordero next year, Keppinger better and/or Gonzalez in, EE better (long shot). Majewski gone, Griffey gone (already there), Paul Janish demoted, and most of all Crappy Patterson loses his big toe to an angry fan (no more speed Dusty!). That is my wish list for next year
Is the Jukich demotion just temporary to allow Harang his rehab starts?
Oh boy now Crappy P is at bat!
What’s with the Astros making these acquisitions like Wolfe and Hawkins? They’re 14 back.
Why is Ross only on 2B? There were two outs.
How the HELL is that not 2nd and 3rd? How the HELL is that not 2nd and 3rd?
Have all of Dusty Baker’s team been so fundamentally screwed up?
Because Dusty Baker is at the helm so little things go wrong when management sucks! Jim-I think that makes sense regarding Jukich, I hope.
I don’t remember. I do know they won games but usually choked in post-season when it really matters. Maybe he’s just old fashioned? No matter it’s definitely a coaching/management issue. AHHHHHH!! They’re complimenting Crappy Patterson on his fielding!!! Dusty will be talking about that to bring him back next year!!
Stormy Weathers doing it again. Wow this team sucks!
When Roy Oswalts BA is .005 below your center fielder you know you are in trouble. Even worse is when your manager puts that center fielder lead off for half the season. Dusty Baker…what a bafoon.
and here he comes!!
and there he goes!
I saw the news story about the guy who called 911 to complain about his sandwich from Subway. Wonder if anyone has called 911 to complain about the Reds?
Only if the call was made at least 5 years ago would it be valid.
Tying run at the plate in the 8th, but it’s Keppinger. Tying run at the plate in the 9th, but it’s CP. Ugh.
I had a nightmare the other night that I was back in high school and having the worst game of my life.
I couldn’t touch anything at the plate and made some ridiculous errors in the field.
After the game, I went into the locker room to change, looked into the mirror at the sink, and the face looking back at me was not myself but……Corey Patterson.
No crap.
If i were manager i would have a talk with the team. then go to confession
Preach, can you become “Priest” instead and exorcise these demons, please?
Dusty Baker has had 9 winning seasons out of 14 as a manager. I’m not including the impending doom the Reds are facing.
Seriously STOP the whining about Patterson leading off. It’s OVER it’s DONE. LET IT GO. Holy frickin’ crap. Dusty has yet to abuse any of the young pitchers and really any of the older pitchers. He’s yet to play crappy veterans over good young players. And before you go “Patterson over anybody” There is NOBODY on the ML roster.
Things to look at for the future. Joey Votto is improving offensively and ever since that San Diego series in SD he hasn’t had as many errors. Hopefully he’ll adjust and keep getting better defensively. Jay Bruce had a nasty period of struggling(which Dusty let him play through) and he’s adjusted showing that he can swing the bat just fine. His defense looks great and will be fun to watch for years out there in right field. Johnny Cueto can hopefully improve next year. He’s got the ability to completely shut down and kill an offense. He needs to learn how to control his pitch count and keep the homers down. Homer Bailey has been dissapointing but his velocity is up finally and he’s still so young. He has a ways to go but no reason to close the book on him at all.
I for on have not given up on Homer Bailey at all. Based on what I saw on Gameday anyway, Bailey pitched better than his line yesterday. He got into trouble by walking 2 guys (Jason Kendall on 4 pitches) in the 2nd. In the 6th, the two runs he allowed scored on 2 infield hits and then one off his glove. When he went after hitters, he was good (a cliche, but true).
He’s yet to play crappy veterans over good young players.
No, but Dickerson is hitting at AAA and Patterson is essentially playing in front of him. Dickerson deserves to be here.
Bako in front of Hanigan is another example.
So is Weathers/Majewski ahead of Roenicke.
Those may be front office decisions rather than Dusty decisions. My major gripe is the fundamental breakdowns and does that not fall on Dusty and his staff?
post #46, Steve you need to lay off the anchovies on your pizzas before bedtime!
Y-City, no you are definately right that the breakdowns of fundamentals directly falls on Dusty and the rest of the coaching staff.
John of Muncie, as far as I know the Reds are trying to get Dickerson to cut down on his strikeouts. If Hanigan was a lefty, he’d probably have already replaced Bako. Roenicke isn’t up in the majors because they aren’t trying to rush players through the minors. He’s got 30 innings in AAA. Chances are he’ll be up next year to take the place of one of the veterans that will go for free agency, if he can keep up his great pitching to the end of the year and in spring training.
Phill, that’s the most logical explanation I’ve been able to find for any of those guys. I get it with Hanigan and Roenicke, but I’d rather watch Dickerson strike out some than Patterson do pretty much anything. But that’s just me.
I heard an interview with the Louisville announcer and he said that he felt that they were putting Roenicke in situations where he’d succeed to get his confidence up, in other words that they were protecting him somewhat…which makes me think they don’t believe he’s ready yet.
John, I agree with you completely. I’d much rather see Dickerson up here and getting a shot.
and yet you’re ok with patterson starting lol
