The Reds get together with the Brew Crew tonight in Cincinnati as the Reds search for their first win in the month of August. Bronson Arroyo will face Manny Parra tonight.
The Reds actually got a little lucky, in that they won’t be facing Milwaukee’s stud pitcher in this series. I’m talking, of course, about Seth McClung.
Discuss the game here.
Tonight’s starting line-up:
REDS
Jeff Keppinger ss
Joey Votto 1b
Edwin Encarnacion 3b
Brandon Phillips 2b
Adam Dunn lf
Jolbert Cabrera rf
Jay Bruce cf
David Ross c
Bronson Arroyo p
With the constant radical juggling of line-ups, does it seem that maybe confusion is part of the Reds offensive problem?
I’d like to know what idiot ever told Dusty that Brandon Phillips is a clean-up hitter
Probably the same idiot that told Dusty that K-Patt was a $3mil leadoff hitter.
This line-up version isn’t any more effective than the 5000 other variations Dusty has run out there. Maybe he ought to pick one and stick with it.
Put Arroyo in centerfield! He’s all the offense.
Didn’t Jerry Narron hit Phillips cleanup, too?
4-0 goodguys
This might put Bronson’s OPS+ above Bako’s.
This game might be worth paying attention to…if Crusty doesn’t decide to leave the pitcher in too long. Oh, the Brew Crew is above .500 so we should be okay
Harang with 69 pitches at AAA with a shutout through 6 innings
No need to bat for Arroyo since he’s better than the ones on the bench! Wonder if Dusty will have the sense to take him out before next inning? 111 pitches is enough
Interesting altercation. Wonder what set that one off?
WTF?
No need to bat for Arroyo since he’s better than the ones on the bench!
Valentin is the only one that comes close to matching Arroyo offensively. Really.
Majewski actually looks like a major league baseball player for a change. Not a good player, mind you. But a major leaguer, anyway.
I love it!
I hope we sweep the Brewers and they miss the playoffs by 1 game! Payback for 1999!
My money is on Fielder in that fight btw!
Brewers better take the couches out of the players’ clubhouse. I am sure that is the root of that dispute between Fielder and Parra.
Fielder may eat Parra.
Chris – you forget that Fielder is a vegetarian now.
HAHA. Excellent.
Chris – you forget that Fielder is a vegetarian now.
What kind of veggies does he eat? Trees?
I’m honestly shocked that Yost let Fielder back on the field. Yes, he’s a key player, but that kind of stuff isn’t acceptable.
And that ball was mashed by Braun. 6-3 Reds.
It looks like Fielder wanted to get that AB over quickly with so he could get back to dropping some bows in the dugout.
Why can’t you be more like Braun?
I agree Matt. I was very surprised to see him out there.
Somewhere in the hollers of Tennessee, Chad is screaming about David Weathers.
er, Virginia.
Hey, Braun, I got good news and bad news. And they’re both the same: you’re fired. Costanza, you’ve won the water pik!
I think Weathers’ head gets a little bit bigger each time he gives up a run. That’s a big melon.
I love David Weathers.
Will we be treated to yet another blown save ???
(Whew!)
course not.
coco is good
and also i think parra provoked that.
maybe thats why.
and yes phillips was a cleanup hitter most of last year cause Narron was almost as idiotic as dusty.
at least narron wouldnt have allowed the signing of crappy outterson
i heard that he is engaged to dustys daughter… (does dusty even have a daughter?)
Dusty does have a daughter.
Is Corey Patterson seeing her?…why should that even be talked about. Ned Yost bats Rickie Weeks leadoff the whole year when he puts up Corey Patterson numbers it makes me wonder if people are trying to start rumors about his daughter in Wisconsin.
I just got back from a night of softball to see a big fat bully pushing a poor pitcher in the opposing dugout.
Who bats the same lineup everyday these days? No one. It’s not unusual for a team to have 100 different lineups. Considering the Reds’ injuries and inconsistency, why should you expect the same lineup? Do you know who’s banged up, who needs a rest, who hits whom, or who doesn’t? In the big picture, when you are a bad team, does it really matter? Is moving Phillips out of cleanup going to magically get this group into a race by which their talent was never matched?
The daily harping of way too many Reds fans about the lineup is absurd. Look at that roster. What do you see? A team exactly where it belongs.
I heard that Fielder dropped the vegetarian thing after hitting just 8 HR in the first two months of the season.

Your best hitters should be batting 1-4. Putting Patterson and Phillips at 1 and 4, respectively, cost them some runs this year for sure. Patterson as a 5th OFer…maybe that’s OK.
I would imagine Aaron Harang would have wished for better run support. In fact, if he had Volquez’s run support, the team would have a much better record…Volquez would have ended up with the same record, and Harang’s would have been above .500.
