We must remember that one of the reasons why this team could not build around Griffey was his monstrous contract. They have been saddled for nine years now. So it is partially his “fault” that he was surrounded by crappy players.

It’s hard to watch the Reds right now – mediocre pitching ties them up, and good pitching shuts them down entirely. With all the free agents on the team, Jockety has a chance to imprint. Let’s hope he’s a better baseball man than we’ve had before, and that Castellini gives up the doomed strategy of winning now while trying to build for the future.

They were only around 800 when Matthews left Milwaukee. Gehrig and Ruth? They were probably over 1000 when Ruth was done. McCovey and Mays? Probably not quite there.

Royals radio said that Thome and Griffey have the most career homeruns of any two teammates in baseball history. Of course they were the Royals announcers so who knows!

Reds fans didn’t support Junior like Indians fans supported CC.

I know they didn’t so I was really just being facetious.

Also C.C. was a public relations dream in Cleveland. He shagged fly balls in the outfield on his off days. Tossed ball after ball after ball into the stands during BP.

haha yeah I doubt that Griffey would do that after how he has been treated in Cincy by many fans over the past 8-9 years.

I was just happy that he didn’t take any parting shots. He’s not really like that but after everything some people said about him or put him through, I wouldn’t blame him
