I think it might be accurate to describe Dusty’s line-ups as MadLibs.

So what’s the lowdown on the Griffey-Brantley feud?

Does anyone here think that this team can actually win or anything close to win? This is one sorry team.

    Not consistently.

And Ross drops yet another throw from the outfield…the streak ends at 2

This team sucks consistently, can’t hit , can’t run, can’t field and can’t pitch. I don’t know of one thing that this team can do good consistently other than suck…any ideas?

I understand that Junior is upset that the Reds have not picked up his $16.5 million option for 2009. I did a little calculating. Since Junior’s arrival in 2000 has only played in 65% of the Reds games due to his injuries. Over that time he was paid $100 million in salary. Seeing how he “owes” the Reds about $35 million, I think he should play the next two seasons for free.

I wonder how much money I could make selling “Corey Patterson Sucks” t-shirts?

This is the most talented bunch of losers the Reds have ever had

2005 team beats them since they could average five runs a game and still lose.

    More sucking by Reds players…goodbye

The 2005 team could come from behind, so could 2006 but this team can’t even come back so once they’re down might as well forget it.

A hell of alot of money. Stand outside the stadium and you’d make a fortune. I also suggest selling “Dusty is a moron” T-shirts.

I hate to join the parade of negativity, but I’m frustrated as hell. Just forget for a minute that these guys are all millionaires. First and foremost, they are major league ballplayers! Professionals! And they routinely blow little league plays! How many times have we seen them give up an out (and nearly run into each other)in the last week because they won’t even call for a ball in the field? I blame the players the most, but I think this team needs some coaching, leadership, whatever…it needs someone to come in, kick these guys in the ass and let them know that if they don’t shape up they’re going to be benched. I’m sick of hearing how hard Encarnacion is trying and how hard he takes every error…if that’s the case, why does he keep screwing up? He’s either a head case or he’s simply run out of talent. Fix him or get rid of him! They need someone to teach Jay Bruce not to swing at that same off-speed outside corner pitch that he’s stuck out on twice a game for the last month. They need someone to tell Brandon Phillips to take a freaking pitch every once in a while. And then the players need to step up, be major leaguers, and execute. If not, find someone who will!

This team needs a complete overhall. Get rid of the manager the coaches, and the veterans. Just keep the kids and fill out the roster, can’t do worse than what we have right now.

We should have seen this coming … we play well against good teams and tank against the poor teams. Its a lack of leadership & lack of setting the proper example by the “vets” on this team that bugs the crap out of me. Im all for a fire sale now. Bring up the kids from AAA, sell off that “irreplacable production” that we still arent winning with. I’d rather see under paid rookies running around making these same mistakes over and over again than these over paid “professionals.”

It’s awfully hard to keep hoping with this team. Harang hurt, Volquez coming down to earth . . . . No offense. What a disappointment!

I say let Griffy hit #610 to pass Sosa the cheat to give fans some excitement…then trade his sorry a$$ and get something and eat 1/2 the contract for next year. He’s worth 8.5 mil for a DH maybe?

I am all for a firesale. We can suck just as easy without some of these guys as with them. What the hell was Dusty wearing on the back of his hat? He looked like a fool. That can’t be part of the major league baseball uniform. He should be fired just for wearing that thing. Dusty the Sheikh. Bring back Pete Mckanin.

I’m glad they are starting to tank before the deadline, hopefully Walt blows up the team.

    Trade the following players:
    Dunn
    Griffey
    Arroyo
    Encarnacion

    Sign CC in the offseason.
Trade for Matt Holliday. (Thompson + Minor league prospects)
    Trade for Gerald Laird
    Trade for Reggie Willits

PS I am not sold on Keppinger or Hairston as a long term options for this team.

Cliff Lee was #1 on list last year.

I would love to sign CC, but there is absolutely no way we shell out enough dough to do that. He’ll either sign with the Yanks, the Sox, Cubs, or Angels. Really any big market team that flashes the cash at him.

If any team is looking at any of the “untouchable” players, they should jump on it. Get anything in return for Weathers, Affeldt, Arroyo, Grif, Ross, etc… Stockpile good to decent prospects and try to develop them like our young guys. I would like to see what the A’s have done, trade for tons of young talent that they have control of for a long time.

As far as I am concerned, they must keep Bruce, Volquez, Cueto, Votto, Thompson and everyone else is for discussion.

While we’re at it, hire a 1st baseman and stick Votto in the outfield somewhere. Votto is NOT a 1st baseman and I’m not sure he has what it takes to ever be one.

Yet you think he is an outfielder?

He’s played OF before in the minors, and did last year too. He’s actually pretty good at it, better than Dunn anyway.

  • Y-City Jim

CC is not this team’s greatest need and his tank job in post season last year raises a big question mark over his head IMO.

Laird is a 30-year-old mediocre catcher both defensively and offensively.

Willits looks like a good OBP.

Holliday only has one year left on his contract.

While it will not have a major effect on the team, Jocketty has to send Corey Patterson packing. Give the fans a little something that says you are starting to make some positive changes.

Walt Jerketty has yet to make a move, is he just a continuation of the poor management on this team? I agree totally, fire sale all but the youngsters Phillips and Dunn (unless you can get an outstanding catcher or 3b). And for God’s sake get rid of Sorrey Outterson and show that you have some balls!!! I believe Dusty Baker has really BS’d his way to controlling too much on this team. Dusty must be some con-artist!!!!!!

Any truth to the rumor that Patterson is dating Dusty Baker’s daughter?

    ReplyReply
  • Phill

Fire Dusty Baker, by pretty good did you mean 47(major+minor) games with 4 errors?

Last year Adam Dunn in 144 games had only 6 errors. This year in 96 games he’s only got 5.

I’m not saying to rule it out and to look at it as an option but he might not be a defensive upgrade whatsoever.

This team will not and does not need to blow up. They most definately need to address key problems but the Reds’ best minor leaguers are all below AAA for the most part.

My non expert opinion is that Corey Patterson will be on this team for the rest of the year. I hope I get proven wrong but I don’t see a reason to dump him.

I prefer to watch the minor league teams…Drew Stubbs, CF was said by the announcer to “saved 3 runs tonight with his defense”. He’s batting .360 but needs more seasoning. Maybe we’ll see him late this year after a cut of Sorry Baker’son

Dear lord we can’t get rid of the best hitter for the last 4 years in Dunn! I know he’s frustrating at times but unless he goes to the AL and we get some great young player in return we need to keep him. He NEVER complains or gets injured and is there every day and gets on base…we can live with his defense if they improve CF and move Bruce to RF plus some infield improvements.

    walt has an untouchable list
    only 5

    Votto
    Bruce
    Cueto
    Volquez
    Encarnacion

    he announced it himself

    Don’t forget Jared Burton!!

I don’t think EdE should be “untouchable” but I do think he’s close to it. I know his .260/.348/.496 line is not spectacular, but he had one really REALLY bad month (May). His OPS is well above .900 for the rest of the season. I think as he gets a little more maturity and experience, he will become more consistent. I’d put EdE on the same plane as Votto. EdE is only 8 months older.
