Louisville 10 – Lehigh Valley 3
Seven of the nine Bats starters had 2 hits in this game. A game in which the Bats had 15 total hits as a team. Ryan Hanigan led the way for the Bats, going 2-4 with a homerun, his 4th, and 3 rbis. Luis Bolivar went 2-3, scoring twice and driving in 2 runs. Chris Dickerson went 2-5, adding a double and 2 runs batted in.
Matt Maloney received plenty of run support, improving to 9-4 on the season. Matt went 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. He lowered his ERA to 4.11 in 111.2 innings pitched this season. In his last 4 starts, Matt is 3-0 and has given up just 5 earned runs in 27.2 innings pitched.
The Lookouts led briefly 1-0 before the Huntsville bats came alive. Travis Wood lasted just 3 innings, giving up 8 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks. Pedro Viola faired no better, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits in 2 innings of work. Lee Tabor was given the same treatment, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings of relief. Only Sean Watson went unscathed, pitching 2 scoreless innigns of relief.
Chris Valaika went 3-5, hitting his 7th homerun of the season, a solo shot in the 1st. Sean Henry hit homerun number 7 as well, another solo shot in the 5th.
Carson Kainer and Justin Tordi each had 2 hits and scored a run for the Reds in the loss.
Misael DeJesus fell to 2-4 on the year with the loss. DeJesus gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in 3 innings pitched. He struck out 5.
I’m not sure if it rained in Dayton last night, but I know it did here in Virginia where I live. Matt Klinker improved to 4-4, giving up just 1 run on 3 hits and a walk. Matt struck out 5 and lowered his ERA to 3.66 on the season.
Denis Phipps had 3 rbis and hit his 7th homerun of the season for the Dragons. Neftali Soto went 2-4 with a double, 2 rbis, and a run scored while Angel Cabrera went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Alex Buchholz hit his 1st homerun of the season, a 2-run shot in the 6th. Miguel Rojas went 2-4.
Oscar Castro allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings of work to fall to 1-1 on the season.
Mariekson Gregorius went 2-4 and Kevin Coddington went 1-4 with an rbi.
Efrain Rodriguez picked up the loss, falling to 2-3 on the season. Rodriguez gave up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings pitched.

Klinker looked more focused than usual last night and pitched very well
Phipps HR was inside the park as the RF forgot to notice the warning track and crushed himself into the wall
Maloney still throws too many pitches. He needs to be more efficient.
