Definition of a true Reds fan: someone who purchases tickets to a Reds game AFTER discovering that Josh Fogg is the starting pitcher.

Yes, that’s me (and fellow RN editor Chris W.). Its almost embarrassing that we are such suckers.

    Discuss the game here.

    3. Like an idiot I spoke too soon. Cards rallied for three in the ninth to win. God I hate them.

      Comment by AnnapolisRed — 7/5/2008 @ 6:56 pm

    4. Cards came back and beat the evil Cubs. I think the Cubs are the team we need to be chasing (they won’t be in first for long).

So, was Bernadino safe on the stolen base or not? Looked real close.

      Comment by renbutler — 7/5/2008 @ 7:19 pm

    5. Seven out?

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 7:20 pm

    6. And they say he only hits HR’s and Strikes out? Huh.

    7. Josh Fogg is definitely in a Fog

    15. Bruce flashing the glove!

      Comment by renbutler — 7/5/2008 @ 8:16 pm

    16. Isn’t pitching to Bako like pitching to the pitcher?

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 8:27 pm

    17. Fogg actually isn’t pitching all that bad.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 8:35 pm

    18. They wanted to go against a Right handed batter in Josh Flogg vs. the Left in Bako. Wow, Flogg looks pretty good tonight, wonder if we can trade him away and get some prospects or Victorino?

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 8:36 pm

    19. Hairston has hit the ball hard all three times tonight. When will he come back to earth?

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 8:38 pm

    20. You know BP has not bounced into a DP in a while…seems like he must be working on that.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 8:43 pm

    21. No wonder the Nationals are 20 games under .500 there are a lot of former reds players on their team.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 8:53 pm

    22. Fogg threaded the needle tonight - but to his credit, by the numbers there’s no doubt that’s a good outing. Hope the Reds can reinforce that positive with some runs here and put him in position for the W.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:01 pm

    23. Bowden is ex-Red crazy. At one point last season they had something like 8 notable ex-Reds on their roster, with another 4 or 5 on their AAA team. Not to mention their coaching & their management team which includes Lenny Harris, Barry Larkin, and Jose Rijo.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:05 pm

    24. There are 12 ex-reds on this team.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:06 pm

    25. Wow, well looks like the Reds are better…not that it’s saying much. I’d say that Weathers is definitely on the trading block, lets hope he looks good so Reds can get something for him

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:11 pm

    26. Where’s Jim and Preach? I miss the sarcastic humor.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:14 pm

    27. CP will be getting some love from DB for sure tonight!

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:17 pm

    28. Nice guys can’t catch a break  - Elijah Dukes injured on a running catch.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:23 pm

    29. Outterson got many groans and boos when he was announced. He did get a hit which means he’ll be leading off again soon.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:23 pm

    30. Good gravy they couldn’t have changed pitchers while they scraped the guy off the wall?

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:28 pm

    31. How bad are the Nationals? Fogg held them to one run in six innings. That says they are real bad.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:34 pm

    32. If nothing else, its a great crowd and a great night for a ballgame. I’m glad I decided to come after all.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:35 pm

    33. The Reds should have wore little red berets with these camo jerseys.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:36 pm

    34. Changed my mind. The crowd is doing the wave. Wish I had stayed home.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:37 pm

    35. At least maybe he knows that we don’t like him. Also, I’m glad he didn’t stay in left field or something.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:38 pm

    36. The wave died a horrible death. If you can see the bleachers I’m standing up on the top row with no hat.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:40 pm

    37. With the way Lincoln is pitching I say package him with Arroyo, Weathers or someone and trade him too. He’s not pitching bad but I can’t imagine it will continue

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:40 pm

    38. Oh Lord! Marty is probably having a cow with the wave going on. I’m not a wave fan either. If they ever invent a time machine someone has to go back in time and prevent the wave from ever being created.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:40 pm

    39. that was about 29…whoops, guess I waited too long.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:40 pm

    40. The guy beside me has the same shirt I have on and he’s picking his nose.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:41 pm

    41. Come on, Reds!!! Ir’s the Nationals and their bullpen is in the game.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:42 pm

    42. Same with that stupid Weeeooo Woooooo song. That was the worst part of my trip to GABP this year…The cannibals playing drums on the street when I left the game sounded better than that crap.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:42 pm

    43. Please PH for Bako.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:43 pm

    44. Nevermind.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:43 pm

    45. Edwin hit that pitch even though it was about a foot outside. Can Bako be the man? Yes he can!

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:44 pm

    46. I almost made a negative remark as Bako got a hit…

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:44 pm

    47. Don’t see you Kurt. But I see Bakooooo!

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:44 pm

    48. Gwen Stefani should be executed for starting the wooooeee wooooooo song.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:44 pm

    49. Good job, Bako!!!

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:45 pm

    50. I’m still standing up here barefoot. I hope coco is warming up.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:46 pm

    52. Gwen Stefani should just be executed period.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:46 pm

    53. Does anyone else think that Thompson could have learned what he needs to learn against the Nationals instead of a AAA team? I mean there’s not a lot of difference and I read he only needed to go down for a short time.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:46 pm

    54. Yeah, that woo wee song or whatever is making my head hurt.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:47 pm

    55. That bananas song is my jam. But, I didn’t know that the woo wee song was from her…I thought that some Reds employee who isn’t a musician made that.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:49 pm

    56. Did you get a camo jersey? We got here at 430 and they were 3000 deep at the front gate.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:49 pm

    57. Dmitri Young just tried to eat Austin Kearns in the on-deck circle.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:49 pm

    58. Didn’t get a camo jersey, but Chris W, who is with me, did. I got here right before first pitch.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:51 pm

    59. Some dude just came up in my section with a ton of food. I guess he couldn’t wait.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:51 pm

    60. That Dmitri-with-a-fro picture is impressive.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:52 pm

    61. They gave away camo jerseys? Yuck.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:52 pm

    62. Cordero 3 days in a row, not good.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:53 pm

    63. Let’s see. Fogg against Indianapolis - 8 innings, 4 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, 6 K’s, 111 pitches. Fogg against Washington - 6 innings, 6 hits, 1 runs, 1 walk, 1 K, 102 pitches.

I think Thompson could have learned as much but he’ll be back soon if they trade Arroyo.

      OK, Quit screwing around CoCo.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:53 pm

    64. Don’t you do this to me, Cordero.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:53 pm

    65. If this was a few years ago I would be cheering for all these guys.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:53 pm

    66. Yeah, it really is strange to see a roster like this.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:54 pm

    67. close pitch

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:55 pm

    68. 97 mph for coco there.

      Comment by Chad — 7/5/2008 @ 9:55 pm

    69. crap

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:56 pm

    70. Burton would have been a better choice given 2 days of previous work for Cordero.

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:56 pm

    71. Nice catch by senior citizen Griffey. Not getting the call on the previous pitch sure hurt there.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:56 pm

    72. Beginning of the inning I almost typed “At least we have a closer who knows what he’s doing…” But I didn’t want to jinx anything. I guess thinking it was enough.

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 9:57 pm

    73. I can’t see Griffey, there is a big iron beam in my way.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:57 pm

    74. Kearns expected that Griffey wouldn’t get there…

Cordero has impressed Thom mightily apparently, but 17-for-20 in saves is not that impressive. Now 17-for-21.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 9:58 pm

    75. Josh Fogg holds them to 1 run in 6ip and Cordero gives up so far 1 run in .2 ip…go figure

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 9:58 pm

    76. I was thinking I might get home by midnight, so I jinxed it also.

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 9:59 pm

    77. Harriston leading off!!!

      RALLY TIME!!!

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 9:59 pm

    78. with this crowd and the top of the lineup….I feel good about us getting to bed before our bedtimes…

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 10:01 pm

    79. Remember how the Brewers faded last year? Cordero had about 7-8 blown saves last year. He’s just not good 3 days in a row. Dusty Baker IQ

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 10:02 pm

    80. I hope the Reds are patient because suddenly Hanrahan is all over the place.

      Comment by Y-City Jim — 7/5/2008 @ 10:02 pm

    81. I can’t believe how Hairston continues to hit!?!?!?!

      Comment by mhopp — 7/5/2008 @ 10:06 pm

    82. I mean, honestly, someone is wearing a Hairston mask. Walk Junior to face BP?

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 10:07 pm

    83. If you’ve got a tivo, rewatch Griffey’s IBB. He was using Barry Bonds’ batting stance. Haha.

      Comment by TylerS — 7/5/2008 @ 10:08 pm

    84. Come on Phillips…

      Comment by Kurt Frost — 7/5/2008 @ 10:08 pm

    88. Winning homestand! Winning homestand!

      Comment by Kevin — 7/5/2008 @ 10:12 pm

    89. Thanks, Nationals! Erase that sour taste from the Pittsburgh series.

      Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 7/5/2008 @ 10:13 pm

    90. Reds win!!!

      Catcher can’t catch the ball.

    91. Catcher can’t catch the ball.

Say, they are just like the Reds!

      Comment by Dallas — 7/6/2008 @ 11:03 am

    100. I wasn’t aware that cannibals were a race? While the comment may have been distasteful I don’t believe it was racist nor as there wasn’t any mention of race? Putting all that aside let’s give Voltron some run support and sweep Bowden’s Nationals!
