Game Thread: Reds at Blue Jays — 2008.06.26
A win tonight gives the Reds two straight series’ wins on the road…not bad, considering the disastrous recent homestand. Edinson Volquez goes tonight, so there’s at least a decent chance the Reds will be celebrating before pulling up stakes and heading to Cleveland for the weekend series against the Indians.
Discuss it here….

Crappy P in the line up on the road…with a .186 OBP and .148 Avg on the road…Dumb Dumb Dusty doing it again.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Glad Valentin wasn’t playing 3B on that first ball tonight.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Does anyone know what the Reds record is with CP in the line up and without? I know it seems like a dead horse but I just can’t let go of it, maybe I should see a shrink.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
I’m not sure I like the new Gameday or not.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Early on, EV is throwing too many pitches. Not a good balls to strikes ratio at this point.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
yeah, it’s a little weird, plus it’s always behind the action. Have you tried ESPNs? Not as in depth with stats, but much quicker to update
June 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Neat, I’m worried about Voltron, he’s not pitching too good tonight. On the other hand the opponent looks good.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
There is only one way you could not hate Scott Rolen and that would be if he played for the Reds.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
2-0 bad guys
June 26th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
McCoy’s blog article had a piece about some of the Reds players watching the Orioles blasting the Cubs today. I found Burton’s comments about scouting reports interesting. Might part of the Reds problems be advance scouting? Who are the Reds advance scouts? Who selects them? Dusty?
June 26th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Does anyone else think it confuses batters if they are constantly moving up and down the line up?
June 26th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
I always thought if helps if players know what their roles are. Changing that role game after game has to be confusing.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I wanna know if the Gatorade ball girl can hit, if she can the REDs should sign her up!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Patterson - a two pitch ground out.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Sounds like it could be part of the problem with hitting. Does Dusty pick the scouts? I don’t know.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Voltron is not on his game tonight
June 26th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Hopefully not the Arroyo bug.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I think the Gameday 3D should let us control the hitter to see if we can hit better than the actual batter. It would allow those frustrated with Dunn to swing at those balls he holds back on.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I think the cowboys just said he’s dropping his elbow
June 26th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
What’s Dick Pole say? Is he awake over there in the dugout?
June 26th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Brantley is going on at length about how Voltron is dropping his elbow noticeably compared to the way he’s thrown so far this season. And the lower arm slot is pushing his pitches up in and above the strike zone. True? Is that a bad sign?
June 26th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Duh duh duh duh
Hairston’s not a born SS.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
double play ball wasted!
June 26th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
That’s ridiculous. Umpires call the phantom tag on double plays ALL THE FRICKIN’ TIME.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Pole to the mound, Everything will be better now (sarcastic)
June 26th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Let’s go to a Reds game, sit together, and taunt Dick Pole.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
I think it would be very funny if the opposing teams would play the giligans island theme when Pole makes his way to the mound.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Cowboy needs to get on the banana phone and let the Dickster know what wrong with EV.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
5-0 isn’t as bad as it could have been.
This team should be able to score 5 runs in their sleep
June 26th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I think the cowboy is still looking for the lost horse
June 26th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
The lost horse must have kicked Dusty Baker in the head.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Dunn breaks up the perfect game with his second double of the series. A little patience at the plate BP.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
dunn is 9 for his last 65? wow, I didn’t know it was that bad
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
mhopp…..we’re not that lucky
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Dunn flashes the speed.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Dunn wants to compete with Crappy P
June 26th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
someone get Dunn some oxygen
June 26th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
When is the last time BP has made a pitcher work and taken a few pitches?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
maybe the reds should send Bruce back to the minors for a week, then bring him back up. I like the way the REDs played when he came up the first time. Maybe they can repeat it.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Losing is contagious but so is winning, they just don’t have a winning, very flat nonchalant.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
I agree, it seems they win a couple and then go into that mode for a week or two.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Scott Rolen is a poopyhead.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
How can you believe in winning when a manager constantly puts someone batting below .200 at the top of the line up…among many other stupid decisions?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Dusty should issue challenges such as if they win ten in a row he’ll manage the next game in a dress.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
15 in a row and Dick Pole will where a grass skirt and a couple coconuts.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
LOL, Dusty in a dress, that would really hurt attendance
June 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
6-1 I guess it’s time to find something else to do tonight………
June 26th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I was looking forward to seeing the Reds win tonight with Volquez on the mound. He can’t win them all though.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
I think I’ll watch “Family Guy” and check back later.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Wonder who Cincinnati will pick in the NBA draft tonight? Wait…never mind.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I just struck out again. Down below the Korey line of .190.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
My man, Big Roy Hibbert was just selected in the draft.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Crappy Patterson up to .194 after the official scorer’s gift of a double.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Konstantinos Koufos hasn’t been selected yet. I was reading an article that said he was costing himself money by not waiting another year for the draft.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
In 38 starts this season, Patterson has 5 multi-hit games.
Wow.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
and most of the remaining games were hitless games. Tonight should have been hitless if not for the generous act of the official scorer.
Bright spot - it seems as if Dunn is starting to get his game going. Cleveland will be thrilled since Dunn seems to be one of their biggest tormentor. They probably feel like he wears pinstripes.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
1-for-3 raised my batting average three points. That’s how bad I suck.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Well, doesn’t look like I missed much, I figured once the Jays had the lead this often confused line up couldn’t come back. Has anyone on this team been at the same slot for any time? Oh, Crappy Patterson was lead off for the first several months, no wonder their record is bad.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Looks like Josh Fogg can’t even keep AAA from beating him…3er through 3ip…another sad story as the Baker/Pole(Dick)/Crappy P saga continues…good news is DT is on tomorrow.
