One comment on tonight’s game

Mike Lincoln has to go. And he needs to take David Weathers with him.

  • Lincoln pitched well in the 9th, but there is no way he should have been out there for the 10th. There was an audible gasp in the ballpark when Weathers exited the bullpen. When Corey Patterson came up to bat in the 10th the announcer said “Batting for Bill Bray…” then silence, I think he was trying to save Patterson from hearing the chorus of boos.

I totally agree about Weathers. He’s all used up…and should have been traded at the all-star break, last year. When his value was at a 5 yr high.

    Lincoln…I’m not sure about…I think he’s still salvageable…But, he’s definitely a “20 pitch/1 inning only” guy.

IMO, Baker made a huge mistake by not sending Cordero in for the 10th, after Lincoln did a solid job in the 9th.

Totally crazy. Lincoln had been dealing lately. Pin it on Baker for not coming with Coco in the 10th. In the words of Herman Edwards, “You play to win the game”.

I think that some of the younger guys should be used in games like this an inning at a time. I think bray would of been great for an inning here instead of running out lincoln for another.

Dusty trusts burton. Try trusting bray because i really think he has potential and showed some real good so far this year.

tough choice who goes first and how many.
I think all these guys need to go and maybe in this order

    Weathers
    Mercker
    Fogg
    Majewski
    Lincoln

the problem is there doesn’t look to be much in the minors to help

hey, I have an idea, lets trade an every day RFer for 2 setup guys? Oh….hmmm

Burton and Bray are becoming very solid options out of the pen, but other than that it makes me sick. I just rather see younger guys put into the line of fire than see these washed up guys with ERA’s over 5. I want to see Herrera, Adkins, and anyone else that has any potential.

Thru 7 games, Josh Roenicke has been lights out at Triple A. And Daryl Thompson had another good start last nite.

I’d like to see Weathers and Lincoln replaced by Roenicke and Belisle.

Belisle is no better. There is definitely a place for Mike Lincoln on this team and he has been effective at time. I do not blame Mike Lincoln for yesterday, I blame Dusty Baker. Weathers I agree he needs to go.

I’m tired of watching Bako throw every ball over Phillips and EE’s head…at this point Javier is a better thrower (which shouldn’t be possible!) LET ROSS PLAY!!!!!

Weathers is definitely higher on my target list. Until the HRs in the 10th, Lincoln had gone 10.0 IP with 0 R and only 3 hits. He’s okay. Weathers, on the other hand, is just miserable.

Mike, if they can get two set-up guys for Griffey, I’d make that trade.

    “LET ROSS PLAY”

agreed… and I hate the way bako handles Volquez and Cueto, too much finesse, not enough straight atcha

Things will never change so long as the orders are coming from Dusty Baker or any of his lovers. He is terrible, it’s as if he wants to prove that he can lose. There is something sinister going on with an organization that allows this to continue. I say eat Dusty’s contract and bring back Mckann or what ever his name was!

I agree with the above comments that Lincoln has not pitched badly lately, and in particlar with the comments that he should not have been brought out in the 10th. The way to win the game was to use Cordero and Burton (if needed) in extra innings. There was little chance either would be used today, and Monday’s an off day. So today we see Burton put in when we’re down 9-0.

On replacing Weathers and Lincoln with Roenicke/Belisle, I’ll retract the Linclon part, at least for now. Lincoln has good K/BB and WHIP numbers (but those 7 HRs allowed hurt). I think Belile can help the team as a reliever,
once he gets his act together. He was decent as a reliever before, and hopefully would be better now.
