Loading ...Game one vs. the Braves tonight, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Reds fare against a solid ballclub. Also interesting to watch will be Edinson Volquez’s performance after being used in relief on Sunday. Aaron Harang, of course, didn’t respond very well last night after his relief outing.
For the Braves will be noted Red-killer Tom Glavine, though he has not been nearly as successful against Cincinnati in recent years.

I was looking at the Braves lineup…I’m afraid we may see some runs scored by them early given the relief outing. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as Harang’s. Keep fingers crossed.
How we fair against the braves in the series should tell us a lot about this team. I like that volquez is starting us off assuming dusty didn’t ruin his momentum throwing him out there in relief on sunday.

Harang only went 4 innings last night, Volquez over 50 pitches thru 3. I don’t expect more than 5 out of Fogg tomorrow. Not many off days this month. This is not looking good for the long term health of the bullpen…or the starters for that matter. Cueto’s been pushed from 100 pitches per game up until the last two starts. He’s thrown 115-120 his last two starts and only made it 5 innings each.
Tom & Marty could profit from the example of this Louisville announcer.

Watching Voltron pitch just makes me wonder how good this guy can be if he ever can develope better pitch efficiency

I’m telling you, this is a different Reds team since Bruce arrived. More energy, and another big bat in the lineup means a lot.
We replaced one of the worst hitters in the NL (Patterson) with a kid that can flat out play. Bruce will have his ups and downs, but he made this lineup immeasurably better immediately.
Watch the replay of that celebration at home plate. Ryan Freel looks like he’s trying to hurt someone.

Cordero didn’t pitch two innings because they had to pinch hit for him.
I will take Bako over Ross any day of the week. Bako just missed a home run tonight. He will hit enough, they need him for his catching.

Error on BP’s “hit”. That sucks considering how hard he smacked that one, but it did go right through Chipper’s legs. Too bad, but in my mind, that one’s a game winner if it won’t count as a hit. I’ll take a game winner.

Which is about the same as Ross, except he is actually a good CATCHER. You don’t need every position to produce offensively, especially catcher.
By the way, great game by EE tonight defensively. When he doesn’t think on his throws he has absolutely no problem.

Steve-I agree with you. Chipper was on the grass and that was a rocket. I wouldn’t be shocked if that one gets overturned. Should have been a hit. It was just as much a hit as Griffey’s.
Anyone else see that Tom Shearn’s contract was sold to a team in Korea? No big deal in my opinion, he was a AAAA pitcher at best.
When there is a possible double play Brandon Phillips should always bunt…he bounces in to more double plays than any player I’ve seen in years. Otherwise, he’s great…wonder if he’s too cockey to work on that a little? Good game!

Like every time there is a play at the plate? When was the last time he caught the ball on a play at the plate.
Seems like Bruce hits the ball where it’s pitched and doesn’t try to pull everything. I hope that continues.
