Corey Patterson doing his best major league player imitation makes me want to swallow a rain forest. I’m afraid that they are going to release Hatte intstead of Spongebat Mancrush. Patterson would be the designated pinch runner and late inning defensive replacement in CF which would shift Bruce over to LF when they remove Dunn prematurely. That would be this year’s version of Juan Castro, and everyone knows we can’t function as the Cincinnati Reds without a golden-hands pinch runner.
i think the team only has two catchers now - valentin has had two starts at first in the last two weeks (while hatteberg had…none?)
why is it that every time something great happens with the team, the reds have to make a corresponding stupid move?
i’m thinking patterson might go when hopper comes back.
are we sellers yet? or is it still too early? seven games back is not the end of the world. but it’s not going to be easy to come back, that’s for sure. at least we don’t have to go to the west coast for the rest of the year.
If it’s Hattey, and CraPatterson is still around what does that do to Freel? Because you know that Baker will use Patterson before he uses Freel. I guess Freel still gets utility time, but he’s about 100X the 4th outfielder that Patterson is. And he’s been playing pretty well lately.

hatte cant play catcher anymore do to bad knees.
i just cant see keeping patterson…

I’m hearing it’s going to be Hatteberg, not Patterson, who is DFA’d today. That’s not confirmed yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Rosecrans & Fay are both reporting it’s Hatteberg.
This team still has 2 LH hitting 1st baseman and 3 catchers.

Patterson is a much better defender than Freel.
