Indianapolis 5 – Louisville 2

When you’re hitting .366/.394/.665 on the season and are batting .514 over your last 10 games and have 5 homeruns, you have to get a look at the bigs some time, correct?  Well, that is all Jay Bruce is doing.  I know, I know, we seem to say this 2-3 times per week.  But Jay went 2-4 in yesterday’s game, driving in an rbi, his 37th of the season.  Kevin Barker also went 2-4 in the game for the Bats.

Adam Pettyjohn lost his first game of the season, giving up 5 runs on 4 hits while walking 3.  He struck out 4 in 6 innings of work.  Adam’s record is better than his ERA would indicate.  At 4-1, his ERA is now 5.01.

Chattanooga

The Lookouts had a day off yesterday.

Brevard County 3 – Sarasota 1

Juan Francisco went 2-4 with an rbi.  Juan is now batting .297/.307/.500 on the season.  He has a whopping 40 strikeouts on the season compared to just 3 walks.

Travis Wood dropped to 3-4 by allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings pitched.  Wood struck out 4.  His ERA is now 2.70 in 46.2 innings pitched.

Lansing 2 – Dayton 1; final 11

Brandon Waring had a double and Devin Mesoraco had a triple to account for 2 of the Dragons 4 hits in the extra innings loss.  The double was Brandon’s 9th of the season and the triple was Mesoraco’s first.

Luis Montano pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 6.   He now has a 3.00 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched this season.

I’ve seen him too. Last night he reminded me of Cueto at the same stage. He is even built like Cueto.

On a team with such shaky offense, you’d think they would’ve brought him up weeks ago, but this organization is content to lose.

Two things of note from John Fay: 1. Bruce may come up on Monday 2. Frazier may be who the Reds see as Dunn’s replacement in left next season
