Louisville Bats

The Bats were off yesterday.

Chattanooga 5 – Mississippi 1

Chris Valaika and Tonys Gutierrez each went 2-4 in the game and scored 3 of the Lookouts 5 runs.  One of Valaika’s hits was a double.  Shaun Cumberland hit his 7th homerun of the season and Eric Eymann added 2 more rbis to his total, giving him 10 in 2 games.

Ben Jukich had an oustanding start, giving up 1 run on 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings pitched.  Ben struck out 8.  He is now 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA in 56 innings pitched.

Brevard County 8 – Sarasota 3

There wasn’t a lot of offense in this one for the Reds.  The club managed just 5 hits, 1 of which was a 2-run homer by Jason Louwsma, his 3rd homerun of the season.

This game was pretty much over in the 4th when Brevard County scored 7 runs.  Daniel Guerrero gave up 7 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in 3.2 innings pitched to pick up the loss.

Dayton 5 – Lansing 1

It was mentioned in the game thread last night, but I think Matt Klinker needs to add “Posting on Redleg Nation” to his pre-game routine!  Matt pitched 7 shutout innings yesterday, scattering just 3 hits and striking out 6 to improve to 3-2 on the season.  Matt had struggled in his previous two starts, but was outstanding yesterday.

Reds #1 pick, Devin Mesoraco, hit his first homerun of the season in this game.  Devin continues to struggle to this point, batting just .154/.214/.269 in 26 at-bats.

I really appreciate you guys keeping us up to date with the farm system. I do have one suggestion, though: perhaps put the team’s overall record up with the report each day.
