Watching that replay on Gameday, I just noticed that Freel kicked Janish in the face during the celebration. Is that guy just a buffoon or what?

Fair enough, Al. I was going to say, but got too excited, that Griffey has looked utterly inept many times over the past couple years. Still doesn’t explain why that dude threw him a changeup in this at bat, when he clearly couldn’t catch up to the fastball.

Absolutely true, Dunn homered his last time up. But still hitting .208 for the year, with 7 homers over nearly 7 weeks. Unless that singular at-bat represents him turning a major corner, those are bad odds. On the other hand, the Reds have no bench. And if the Dunn/Griffey combo is out, that means Patterson, Freel, and Hairston are in for the duration no matter what. Didn’t matter tonight, thankfully.

to stick up for the kid chris, he caught up with a fastall just fine in his first AB. nerves, pitcher on the mound with an 0.70 ERA, light rain, i don’t know. but i’m willing to withhold judgement on his batspeed for at least another day.

Why in the world was Cueto pinch running? Two outs, Ross would have scored on most anything to the outfield. As far as I know, Cueto has never been a base runner in the minors or majors.
