Has there ever been a bench clearing brawling involving one team fighting among themselves because after that collision between Velez and Bocock I thought they were going to square off against each other.
Volquez ties Cueto for 2nd on the club in K’s. Needs one more to go into a tie for 4th in the NL. Would need five more to go into a tie for 2nd. That isn’t going to happen today.
I think Marty just said, “We go to the seventh inning, Reds coming to bat up 8 to 1, and with the play-by-play, here’s Joe.” If I did indeed hear that right, Jeff regardless did not correct him. Ingrained after so many years.
Listening to the Kate Smith rendition of “God Bless America” makes me wish the Reds would bust out the old recording of Jerry Vale singing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Yeah. They play them Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday not this weekend. Plus even if they had that right they had Volquez pitching Tuesday on one day’s rest. Fox Sports’ wonderful graphics.
#1 and GG - in the 9th inning, he was giving his recap of HOW the Reds won this game BECAUSE of their speed/little ball lineup. I know there is a segment of the Reds fanbase who thinks they could score 10 runs playing small ball every night, think the Reds are better off w/o Dunn and Griffey, and so a game like yesterday validates their thinking in their minds.
The true story for folks that actually watched the game was that Zito did not even have his B game today. His fastball topped out at 83? 84? Had trouble locating his other pitches. The Sarasota Reds offense could have put up some runs against the Giants yesterday.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
GG just described this as the speed line up. Is there a throw up emoticon?
April 27th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Speedster Hairston draws a walk.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Speedster Patterson (S2) singles sending Speedster Hairston (S1) to 3B.

S2 steals 2B.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
The powderpuff lineup is off to a good start.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Base clogger Keppinger walks.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Why could a speedster tag up of that infield pop up?
April 27th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Are the Giants really this bad defensively?
April 27th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Speedster Freel (S3) drives in two runs.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Wow, SF looks like a Little League team.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
5-0 Reds and Zito is already over 30 pitches in the first inning.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Anybody else’s FSN really choppy and crappy?
April 27th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Make that 6-0, and still only one out.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
I cannot believe this lame line up has put up six runs in the first. Bako sets up the possibility of hitting for the cycle today.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Gotta love when Edinson gets to bat before he throws a pitch.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:27 pm

April 27th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
I’m listening to the Giants feed on XM, and they said something similar after that collision.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Great start by the good guys.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Volquez guys 97 on the gun, and he Ks the 1st two batters.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Man, I love Kepp. What a hitter.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Is Bako the fastest catcher ever?
April 27th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
8-0. Unreal.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Reds have scored in 10 of the last 13 innings.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Volquez proving hittable this inning.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Volquez does a Bob Gibson imitation.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
On a windless day, GG blames the wind. CW properly blames Phillips for not flipping his sunglasses down.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Maholm tossed a 2-hitter against the Phillies.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Lannan shuts out the Lilley and the Cubbies. Wily Mo with an RBI.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Texas wins 10-0 over the Twinkies. Hamilton was 3 for 4 with a HR, two runs scored, and two RBI (27).
April 27th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Here’s hoping to see Volquez go seven innings.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Chris Welsh is much better at being sentimental than George Grande.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
EEEEEEE makes a splendid play.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Edwin’s glove is golden. Brantley & Brennaman rave.

So the Cowboy is back after his voice problems.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
BP gettin’ his groove on.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
EE has another hitting streak in the works. Two-gamer so far.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:06 pm

April 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
DA, that makes a tear come into the eye every Reds fans.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Volquez at 90 pitches, needs to be efficient here to get through the seventh.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Man. I slaughtered the grammar of that last comment.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Striking out the side would be a great way to end his day.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Another image of Voltron in a Reds hat, in action. A typical mlb . com photo, showing a pitcher’s face in full exertion, looking as weird as possible.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
What was that graphic of the pitching match ups this weekend? That was all screwed up starting with the fact that the Reds play Atlanta not St. Louis.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Sure beats the pic coming up on Yahoo. He still has the Rangers hat with his hair sticking out on each side like Flippo the Clown.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Uhhh, the Reds do play STL this week, don’t they?
April 27th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Volquex with 34 K’s on the season. Good for 4th place in the NL. Harang leads the NL with 37.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
That is still the file photo that the mlb Gameday uses as well - Voltron the Clown.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Yeah. They play them Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday not this weekend. Plus even if they had that right they had Volquez pitching Tuesday on one day’s rest. Fox Sports’ wonderful graphics.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
S1 and S2 got on base three (.375) out of eight times and scored all three times. Dusty can boast.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Justin Lehr career stats since Chris Welsh was just promoting him
April 27th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
I do agree that Roenicke and Thompson need to move up to Louisville soon.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Break out the Coffey joke book because he is in and picking up where he left off last night.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Hey. At least he recorded an out today.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Maybe we call him “Hot Coffey” today as he was “Ice Coffey” last night. ERA drops to 6.46.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
I hope Phillips and the Reds offense is groovin’ like this in St. Louis.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Second game in a row with ten runs scored and the second game in a row where the
Reds pitching ends the game with a K.
