Now do one on the “State of the Offense”. It’ll make everyone throw up. Hopefully the pitching will continue and the offense will kick it up a couple notches soon. You should be able to win when you give up just 2 runs in 9 innings.
the K/BB for Cueto is what bodes so well for him as he adjusts and the league adjust to him.
He’s still gonna go through the stretch where he gets hit around from time to time as all young pitchers do however…while he can’t always control the number of hits he gives up (defense), he can control a good deal of the damage when he gives up those hits…by limiting his walks.
Off topic, but I saw that Ryan Hannigan went on the DL and Ross missed three games of rehab with a leg muscle problem. LLM is gimpy and Bako today is a bit, ah, sore. We have problems with our catching position when everyone is healthy. This could be a problem. And when Ross returns, then what? We still need some pop from the right side. Maybe bring up Phillips and send down…
Yeppers, Fogg better get his game in gear or he is gonna be out of a job. 3-4 guys down at Louisville are pitching lights out baseball. A couple more gems from Fogg like his 1st start doesnt bode well for his future. I was hoping that he would pitch well and end up being a nice guy to trade off at the deadline once Homer had straightened things out. Doesnt appear that it has taken him very long to do so. Fogg could be on the outs by the end of April.
Poor Josh Fogg. Has an average year last season, but turns down a decent contract offer. Ends up signing late for a much lower bargain-basement price, and even then his new team’s fans want to run him out of town after just one outing.
I’m willing to be more patient. I’ll give him one more start.
Seriously though, part of the issue is that the fast starts by the kids in the rotation (and importantly, Homer in Louisville), and the entrenched nature of Harang ‘n’ Arroyo, have left journeyman Fogg sticking out like a sore thumb. He’s got a couple good outings in him, though I think tonight won’t likely be one of them. I don’t see him matching up well against MIL.
What’s a problem with Fogg is his ceiling isn’t a lot higher than what we’ve seen. He’s not going to be as bad as his first start, but he’s not going to be good. he simply backed into the spot, Bailey self destructed in ST, Belisle got hurt.
It just makes more sense to throw someone that has a chance to improve…
I think it’s possible that the guy who will be demoted when Homer comes up will be Arroyo, not Fogg. I think Bronson is a classic case of a guy who switches leagues and has success until the hitters in his new league figures him out, at which time he becomes the same pitcher he was before he switched leagues, which is a #5 starter.
You probably meant demote to the pen, but I don’t think Arroyo’s going there either. I am concerned about his hittability but he’s survived on craft on several occasions. Let’s give Fogg a few starts. He will have a tough task in Milwaukee. Why can’t we face SF every game?
Nobody thought they’d cut Stanton. I’m not saying Fogg will be pitching better than Arroyo by the time Homer comes up, but if he is, it will be Dusty’s call who goes to the pen.

Hannigan’s injury triggered movement all the way to Dayton as every team (I think) moved a catcher to the higher team.
