I’m not sure about the options. Players have 3 “options” right, meaning option years. Was he on the Expos 40-man roster at the start of 2004, or was he only added when he was promoted late in the year? He was optioned to start 2005 and last year, but not in 2006.
That would leave open the possibility of an option year if he was not optioned during 2004…or does an option year “expire” whether it’s used or not? i.e. 2006 counts towards an option year even though he wasn’t optioned to the minors.
Option or not, I think given his salary and performance, it’s a pretty steep uphill battle for him to have a spot on this team. If he is out of options, I doubt he’d be claimed on waivers.
As an aside how do you feel if you are Voltron, Cueto, Maloney, or others who start in the minors this year if Majewski can’t get it together. This when your manager has stated publicly he would rather have the best arms on the big league team in the bullpen vs the minors.
Top five signs you should not make the Reds bullpen out of spring training
5). Your first pitching line bears the mark of the beast , as in 6 earned runs, 6 runs, 6 hits
4). Your ERA eclipses the amount that a lot of people have in their checking accounts (162.00)
3). Your wild pitches to batters retired ratio is 2:1
2). Your manager fondly recalls the old school days when young arms were groomed in major league bullpens and not minor league rotations
1). Your name is Gary Majewski
The only thing that has kept that cruddy Nationals trade from being even worse is that Kearns and Lopez have been as inconsistent in Washington as Cinci.
Even still, it has to close to one of the worse trades the Reds have done in 20 years.
I still cannot believe now that they didn’t get Cordero in that deal. If they dealt those guys for him, I could have believed it but Bray and Majewski have been total damaged goods.

How’s that “Operation Shove It” going, anyway? About as good as that grievance, I guess.
My only question is, does he have options? My guess is no…ugh.

I’d give him the option of pitching well or looking for another job.
I agree with John. This is the year. Either Majewski starts pitching well or the organization cuts ties.

Per Fay, everyone on the 40-man has options except:
Bronson, CastroDisastro, Cordero, Freel, Hatte, Kepp, BP, Ross, LLM, and Weathers.
