Someone made the comment in last night’s game thread that, even in this miserable season, some shred of enjoyment would be salvaged if the Reds could just knock St. Louis out of the playoff hunt.
I agree. The Redlegs attempt to do just that tonight, as Bronson Arroyo will take the hill against Anthony Reyes. Discuss it here.

I for one would love to see the Brewers win it, because that gives the Cubs a 0% chance.
Now that the season is effectively over the game threads have been pretty slow, but I’m here tonight.
I wonder, with the introduction of commercials, if MLB.TV will be any cheaper. I can speculate..
@Jared-
Hope so, WLW only comes in 5% of the time out here. How my sister gets Fox Sports Ohio on cable 10 miles away and we only get Midwest still annoys me. Stupid state boder…
We’re moving next month and we’ll be getting Dish or DirecTV so I can watch the Big Ten Network, so I think I should have FSO next year.
Why is Votto batting 6th? He’s started off hot and you’d think it would be best to get him as many ABs as possible.
The Gamelive.com is great for radio feeds and Sopcast works well for watching online, when WLW won’t come in on my radio.
Well.. I’m watching tonight for the sole purpose of seeing Votto since I haven’t yet, and in his first AB he strikes out looking at 3 pitches that all looked to be balls.
Kepp in at short, FSMW says Gonzo was having “leg trouble” on the basepaths in the third.
And BP just decked one. 1-0 good guys.
EE with another homer after the Dunn walk, 3-0
Reyes throws the 3-2 to Votto to the backstop, pulled after 3.1 for Tyler Johnson.
Re: Votto, hitting 7th is a step up! Mackanin had been saying that he would hit eighth because that’s where rookies go until they prove themselves, or something.
Also, according to the gamecast two of those called strikes on Votto’s first plate appearance were pretty clearly outside – obvious even though mlb has removed the superimposed gray strikezone box from their pitch location graphic (complaints from umpires, maybe?)
STL scores a run, but Bronson gets Molina (!!!) to ground into a doubleplay. Feels like that’s the first time that Molina has had a chance to do damage and did not. 3-1 Reds.
30th stolen base for Phillips – everybody is nearing milestones of some kind.
And then Dunn gets a hit (not a homerun) with a runner in scoring position. That’s a milestone.
Edwin is red-hot. 4-1 Reds.
Wow – a hit and run? Rare thing, especially for it to work perfectly. 5-1 Reds.
LLM has got to be my favorite underdog.
Yeah, I don’t remember seeing a hit and run in the 30 or so Reds games I watched this year.
So I guess Hamilton does have a strained hamstring, despite his protests to the contrary.
Here comes Stanton! Will any one of these outings ever be his final one with the Reds? At least he’s been used less lately – tonight is only his third game in September.
Branyan pulls a Bo Jackson! Awesome.
Finally, a Majewski-induced grounder gets fielded by the defense. Milestone!
Burton is becoming one bad dude.
Does anyone have a larger strike zone (both real and imaginary) than Dunn?
Are Welch and Brennaman bellyaching about EE getting his numbers up?
Do the ushers have pooper scoopers tonight?
You know there would be some small satisfaction to finish ahead of the Cardinals in the standings.
It would be more than small satisfaction to me.
But I’ll take what I can get with this club.
By the way, what was the story about this dog game? Where did the dogs sit? Were they in a specific section?
How many people stepped in dog crap?
When is Cat Night?
Harang pitching and no TV. Bummer.
The dogs sat in their owners’ laps.
